The Repository presents 10 Greater Canton Area Boys Lacrosse Players to watch this year

The spring sports season has begun and lacrosse fields across the area are bustling. The sport is rising in popularity in the Stark County area and the talent level is rising with it. Division I prospects, seasoned upperclassmen and top players from programs on the rise can all be found in the Repository's Greater Canton Area Boys Lacrosse Top 10 Players to Watch list.

Bryce Roach

Hoover, jr.

Roach is one of the most versatile players in the area. The junior long stick midfielder has the scoring ability of an elite attacker paired with all the traits you would want from an top defender. Roach is an imposing figure at 6-2, 200 pounds. Opposing attackers will have trouble pushing past him. He will also score more often than some attackers in the area. It's a big reason why Roach was a named to the All-Ohio first team last year and is verbally committed to the University of Utah. He was also named first-team all-region and was named the all-region position player of the year.

Maddux Hurley

Green, sr.

A record-setting scorer set to play collegiately for Kent State University, Hurley enters his final high school season as the top career goal scorer (159) in Green program history. He is also closing in on the career record for total points (229) for the Bulldogs. Hurley is a highlight reel waiting to happen. Expect him to continue putting on a show this season.

Gregory Thomas

Jackson, sr.

Thomas is one of the top returning midfielders in northeast Ohio. He is exceptional on the attack or on defense. He is particularly dangerous as a scorer and draws a lot of attention from opposing defenses. Thomas has earned all-region honors three times in his career and Forest City Lacrosse League honors twice.

Cole Rembielak

Hoover, jr.

Rembielak is poised for a big season for Hoover. The junior has a reputation for being one of the hardest hitting and most entertaining attackers to watch in the area. After compiling 45 goals and 35 assists last season, Rembielak is entering his upper classman years and should only improve on already strong results. Rembielak was named to the Region 2 second team last year as a sophomore.

Nate Baker

Lake, sr.

The 2023 Federal League Football Player of the Year is also quite the lacrosse player. Baker is a dynamic attacker who can score on the attack or hold down the midfield. You'll be hard-pressed to find a better athlete as elusive as Baker, who is fielding college offers for lacrosse and should produce plenty of highlights for the Blue Streaks this season.

Jordan Warmath

Jackson, jr.

Warmath is one of the top pure defenders in the area and will be tasked with containing the best offensive player on the opposing team each game. It's something at which he should excel. Warmath was named to the all-region second team last season, and is also drawing interest from multiple colleges.

Logan Kinzler

GlenOak, sr.

Kinzler is one of the top midfielders in the area. He is an effective scorer and is closing in on his 100th career point for the Golden Eagles. Kinzler possesses good size (5-foot-11, 158 pounds) and gets a lot of velocity on his shots. He is also accurate and excels from scoring from 10 to 15 yards out. His shot is compact and he doesn't need much room to create offense.

Oliver Miller

Green, sr.

Miller is part of a Green attack unit that can pile up points in a hurry. He possesses good size (6-foot, 170 pounds) and can score from a variety of angles and ranges. Miller's ability caught the attention of Tiffin University, and he signed a national letter of intent to play for the Dragons, who are playing their inaugural college lacrosse season this year.

Mitch Gregory

Hoover, sr.

Gregory returns as the starting offensive midfielder for his final season after recording 28 goals, six assists and seven double assists last year. Gregory was named all-region honorable mention for his efforts, and he should produce plenty of points in his senior season. He is committed to play lacrosse for Baldwin Wallace in college next season.

Mitchell Braucher

Jackson, jr.

Braucher is poised to make a big impact in lacrosse after an exceptional season on the football field for the Polar Bears. Braucher, who has worked his way into the starting lineup and is an intriguing prospect for Jackson, is a tremendous athlete who possess great size (6-foot-2, 190 pounds). Look for him to find success and produce highlights quickly.
