Reports: Pacers get Doug McDermott and Corey Joseph after trading Buddy Hield

INDIANAPOLIS -- After trading away one veteran sharpshooter on Thursday morning, the Pacers brought another one back Thursday afternoon just before the trade deadline and also added a veteran guard in another deal.

The Pacers traded guard Buddy Hield to the 76ers for veteran forward Marcus Morris Sr. and reserve guard Furkan Korkmaz as well as three second-round picks Thursday morning according to a report from Adrian Wojnarowski of ESPN, but then traded Morris and a second-round pick to the Spurs for wing Doug McDermott, who spent three years with the Pacers from 2018-21, according to a report from Shams Charania of The Athletic.

McDermott isn't as prolific of an outside shooter as Hield, but he is prolific. Hield ranks 22nd all-time in 3-pointers in his career with 1,842, but McDermott has 922 of his own and McDermott is a career 41.2% 3-point shooter while Hield is shooting 40.1% from his career. Hield is averaging 12.0 points per game this season and McDermott is averaging 6.0 per game, but McDermott has made 43.9% of his 3-pointers this year.

Shortly thereafter, the Pacers also added guard Corey Joseph from the Warriors for a second-round pick, according to Charania. Joseph, a former teammate of Pacers All-Star point guard Tyrese Haliburton in Sacramento, is a 13-year NBA veteran. He's averaging 6.9 points per game for his career and 2.4 points per game off the bench for the Warriors this season. The Pacers, however, then waived Joseph.
