Red Sox 13, Orioles 2

BOSTON -- Shane Victorino homered twice, drove in seven runs and scored four times Tuesday, and the Boston Red Sox returned home from a winning West Coast trip to post a 13-2 win over the Orioles.

Victorino hit a two-run homer in the third inning, a three-run shot in the fifth and two-run double in the seventh.

Mike Napoli also homered to back Felix Doubront, who pitched 6 2/3 innings of two-run ball.

Victorino hit the 100th and 101st homers of his career, his 10th and 11th of the season. Napoli hit his 17th of the year. Dustin Pedroia had three hits, including a two-run double, and Jacoby Ellsbury also had three hits in the blowout, the Red Sox's third straight win.

Doubront (10-6) won his second straight start, his teammates contributing a combined 23 runs in the two outings.

Tuesday's game opened a nine-game homestand for the Red Sox, who went 4-2 last week while visiting San Francisco and Los Angeles.

Wei-Yin Chen (7-7) was belted around and gone after 3 2/3 innings, losing for the fourth time in his last five starts. Chen gave up a career-high eight runs during the shortest start of his career.

The Red Sox scored in the first inning when Victorino was hit by a pitch, moved to third on Pedroia's double and came home on a David Ortiz sacrifice fly.

Baltimore went ahead in the third and could have had more. Doubront walked Brian Roberts with the bases loaded and one out to force home a run, but the only other run scored on Manny Machado's sacrifice fly.

Victorino took care of the deficit when he hit a two-run shot in the fourth. Napoli then hit his second home run in his last three at-bats (dating to Sunday) to make it 4-2. It started a five-run inning that included a baserunning gaffe by the Red Sox and two-run doubles by Pedroia and Jonny Gomes.

Victorino went deep off reliever Troy Patton in the fifth -- the second two-homer game of his career -- to make it 11-2.

NOTES: The Orioles activated INF Wilson Betemit from the 60-day disabled list. He missed the entire season after suffering a knee injury in March. INF Ryan Flaherty was sent to high Class A Frederick to make room for Betemit on the roster. The move was made to the lower minors so Flaherty can return to the O's on Sept. 2. ... The Red Sox completed a Triple-A deal with the Kansas City Royals, acquiring speedy OF Quintin Berry for RHP Clayton Mortensen. ... RHP John Lackey, who has pitched better than his 8-11 record (3.17 ERA), faces Baltimore's Bud Norris in the second game of the series Wednesday night. Norris is 3-0 and the Orioles are 5-0 in Norris' five starts with his new team. ... Both teams have key pitchers making rehab starts this week: Baltimore RHP Jason Hammel (right arm) on Thursday and Boston RHP Clay Buchholz (neck, right shoulder) on Friday.
