PREP ROUNDUP: Decatur Heritage girls defeat Class 3A No. 2 St. James

Dec. 30—HUNTSVILLE — Leslie Hames had 24 points and eight rebounds as Decatur Heritage picked up a 62-57 win over Class 3A No. 2 St. James at the Falcon Classic at St. John Paul II on Friday.

Decatur Heritage (14-3) rallied from a 11-10 deficit after one quarter to take a 28-25 lead into halftime. The Eagles extended the lead to 48-44 after three quarters and held on for the win.

Emma Eastman had 13 points and six rebounds for the Eagles, while Katelyn Cooper added nine points and 10 rebounds. Genie McGhee and Kennedy Kyle scored six points each.

West Morgan girls 55, Haleyville 27: Jordyn Free led West Morgan with 12 points at the West Morgan Holiday Classic on Friday.

Haniyah Standridge had 10 points for the Rebels, who led 26-16 at halftime.

Russellville girls 46, Danville 34: Adily Alberti had 12 points, eight rebounds and four steals for Danville at the West Morgan Holiday Classic on Friday. Maddie Sherrill finished with five points, six rebounds and three steals for the Hawks.

Tullahoma (Tenn.) 37, Hartselle 35: Hannah Burks scored 12 points to lead Hartselle at the Border War Classic at Athens on Friday.

Mary Frances Itsede added nine points for the Tigers, who trailed 19-13 at the half.

Decatur girls 60, Russellville 39: Jenny Mitchell scored a game-high 27 points for Decatur at the West Morgan Holiday Classic on Thursday.

Amiah Jackson added 15 points for Decatur (12-7), which led 29-15 at halftime. Jacey Moore (15) and Ella Copeland (13) scored in double figures for Russellville.

Priceville girls 56, Rogers 44: Abby Langlois scored 17 points and grabbed 10 rebounds as Priceville picked up a win at the Keith Davis Memorial Classic at Lauderdale County on Thursday.

Amberleigh Dean scored a career-high 13 points for the Bulldogs, while Ashlyn Johnson added nine points.

Lauderdale County girls 63, Priceville 48: Langlois had 20 points as Priceville opened play in the Keith Davis Memorial Classic against host Lauderdale County on Wednesday.

Carly Nelson had 10 points and six rebounds for the Bulldogs, while Gracin Prater added nine points.

Susan Moore girls 71, Decatur Heritage 59: Hames poured in 30 points to lead Decatur Heritage at the Falcon Classic at St. John Paul II.

Cooper had 11 points and 13 rebounds for the Eagles, while McGhee finished with nine points, 12 rebounds and eight assists.

Decatur Heritage girls 92, North Sand Mountain 83: Hames scored 35 points as the Eagles toppled Class 2A No. 4 North Sand Mountain at the Falcon Classic at St. John Paul II.

McGhee finished with 19 points, 10 rebounds and 10 assists, while Cooper added 16 points and 11 rebounds. Emma Eastman had eight points, four rebounds and four assists.

Decatur Heritage boys 47, Randolph 36: Brady Wilson scored 17 points and grabbed seven rebounds as Decatur Heritage claimed a third-place finish at the Randolph Christmas Tournament with a win on Friday.

Nash Thomas had 13 points and eight rebounds for the Eagles, who led 23-19 at the half. Hayden Page finished with 11 points and six rebounds.

East Lawrence boys 48, Cherokee County 47: Noah Rikard poured in a game-high 20 points as East Lawrence rallied from a 27-22 halftime deficit to pick up a win in Guntersville on Friday.

Cayne McClure had 16 points for the Eagles (10-5), while PJ Head added seven points.

Alexandria boys 69, Decatur 64: Brayden Walker had 14 points for Decatur in a game played in Guntersville on Friday.

Tre Kirk added 11 points for the Red Raiders, while Wyatt Smith scored eight points.

Hueytown boys 84, Hartselle 40: Rylan Smothers scored a team-high 11 points for Hartselle on Friday.

Dawson Seal had nine points for the Tigers, while Ty Odom scored eight points. Braylon Patton had a game-high 25 points for Hueytown.

American Christian boys 59, Brewer 45: Cason Odom (18) and Austyn Holmes (16) each scored in double figures for Brewer at the Randolph Christmas Tournament on Friday.

Camdyn Ballinger added seven points for the Patriots, who were outscored 31-19 in the second half.

Davis Dare scored a game-high 19 points for American Christian.

Midfield boys 55, Priceville 51: Sammy Holmes finished with 24 points and 11 rebounds to lead Priceville at the Calhoun Christmas Classic on Friday.

Luke Hood had 20 points and eight assists for the Bulldogs, who rallied from an eight-point deficit to tie the game with three minutes left to play.

Priceville returns to play on Tuesday at home against Austin.

Decatur Heritage boys 52, American Christian 45: Wilson led three Decatur Heritage players in double figures with 18 points and five rebounds in a win at the Randolph Christmas Tournament on Thursday.

Page had 16 points and six rebounds for the Eagles, while Jayden Cooper added 10 points.

Spain Park boys 53, Hartselle 44: Markus Tapscott led Hartselle with 14 points in a game played at Homewood on Thursday.

Kohl Key had 12 points for the Tigers, who trailed 24-22 at halftime. Korbin Long and Harrison Stewart had 15 points each for Spain Park.
