Prep roundup: Brayden Crowe off to scorching start for Hartland baseball

A few weeks into baseball season, no Livingston County batter has been hotter than Hartland junior Brayden Crowe.

Crowe went 2-for-3 and drove in three runs for the Eagles Wednesday during an 8-5 victory over Canton.

Crowe leads Livingston County with a .545 batting average, 19 runs batted in and nine doubles. Since going 2-for-9 to start the season, he’s hit a torrid .629 in his last 35 at-bats over 11 games.

Lucas Frack went 3-for-4, while Bobby Griffon was 2-for-4 with two RBIs for Hartland (10-6-1).

Michael Bernardi pitched three shutout innings of relief, striking out five.

Down 5-3 after four innings, Hartland scored two runs in the fifth, one in the sixth and two in the seventh.

Brighton 4, Salem 1

Parker Aten pitched all seven innings for Brighton, striking out 10 and giving up four hits, to lower his earned run average to 1.18.

Cooper Andrzejewski hit his fourth home run, a two-run blast in the fifth to put Brighton up 4-0. Braeden Chiles hit two doubles for the Bulldogs (11-5).

Northville 2, Howell 1

Daniel Hampton went 2-for-2 and drove in Howell’s only run. Gavin Pejakovich pitched all seven innings for the Highlanders, allowed two runs on six hits.

Grand Ledge 6, Howell 5

Howell 5, Grand Ledge 3

Brett Parris drove in two runs in the first game and Nick Hoorn had two RBIs in the second game for Howell.

Adrian 10, Pinckney 5

Freshman Jax Raymond went 2-for-4 for Pinckney.

Soccer

Hartland 9, Howell 0

Senior Alyse Daavettila scored five goals for Hartland, which won a mercy-rule decision after scoring all nine goals in the first half.

Four of Daavettila’s goals came in succession after the Eagles took a 3-0 lead. After a goal by Katie Swirczek, Daavettila scored her fifth goal.

Catie Fisher, Brooke LeGault and Jenna Pietila scored Hartland’s first three goals.

Brighton 3, Plymouth 1

Olivia Sebestyen, Maya Bjedov and Brynn Bobby scored for Brighton (5-3-2).

Pinckney 8, Tecumseh 0

Zaryah Griffin scored four goals and one assist, while Val Graves had two goals and three assists for Pinckney.

Brooke Stanford and Kinley Mays scored the Pirates’ other goals.

Girls lacrosse

Howell 13, Dexter 4

Sophia Balla had five goals and one assist, while Janie Mitter had four goals for Howell.

Softball

Fowlerville 13, Lake Odessa Lakewood 12

Fowlerville’s Tommi Kleinschmidt was 4-for-5 with a home run and three RBIs in the first game.

Tori Briggs had a home run, triple and double in the doubleheader. Kiely Davis drove in three runs in the first game and homered in the nightcap.

Canton 1, Hartland 0 (8)

Canton 7, Hartland 4

Canton scored on an infield error in the bottom of the eighth inning to win the opener. Hartland sophomore Olivia Forrest allowed only three hits and fanned 10 in 7 2/3 innings. Skylar Spisz was 2-for-3 for the Eagles (8-6), who are 0-3 in extra innings.

Sadie Malik and Kaitlyn Brennan homered for Hartland in the nightcap. Canton won with four runs in the bottom of the sixth.

Hartland 10, Novi 6

Forrest went 3-for-4 for 3 RBIs in the completion of a game that was called by darkness on April 8.

Northville 11, Howell 0

Northville 7, Howell 3

Jada Challiss homered in the second game for Howell, which gave up 10 runs in the third inning of the opener and six in the fifth inning of the nightcap.

Salem 10, Brighton 1

Salem 9, Brighton 6

Melanie Buzo had four walks, a double and five steals in the doubleheader for Brighton.

Boys lacrosse

Brighton 14, Howell 3

Joey Skoczylas, Connor Kammer and Zach Watkins scored three goals each for Brighton (8-2), which has beaten Howell 19 straight times since losing 9-8 on May 19, 2006.

Tyler Mira scored twice for Howell.

Hartland 15, Livonia 5

Jacob Ross scored four goals and two assists for Hartland. Jake Lewis, Dylan Ayotte and Kyle Pies scored two goals each for the Eagles.

Golf

Howell 156, Salem 178

Zach Spencer shot 36 to finish first, Rory Sturos shot 38, and Derek Kantola and Gavin Hill had 41s for Howell.

Hartland 162, Northville 162

Hartland needed a 43 by fifth man Alex Katch to win the tie-breaker over Northville, which got a 47 from Nick Tokarz.

Aidan Oake shot 37, Brady Betteley shot 40, and Keller King and Michael Maurin each fired 42s for the Eagles.

Dexter 164, Pinckney 183

Carson Plante and Will Lawver shot 44s for Pinckney.
