Celtics confident entering series against Bucks

The only team to register a first-round sweep, the Boston Celtics enter their Eastern Conference semifinals matchup on Sunday with the defending champion Milwaukee Bucks loaded with confidence.

Boston's defense stymied a Brooklyn Nets team featuring two of the league's elite scorers in Kevin Durant and Kyrie Irving. The Celtics are a conference-best 37-10 since their buzzer-beating loss to the Knicks on Jan. 6.

Fully healthy again after Robert Williams' return, the Celtics now turn their attention to reigning NBA Finals MVP Giannis Antetokounmpo and Milwaukee.

The Bucks rolled to a 4-1 win over Chicago but may have to take on Boston's top-rated defense without Khris Middleton. He hasn’t played since spraining the medial collateral ligament in his left knee in Game 2 against the Bulls.

Memphis advances to meet Golden State

Desmond Bane and Dillon Brooks each scored 23 points to steer a third fourth-quarter comeback victory in the series by the Memphis Grizzlies, who eliminated the Minnesota Timberwolves with a 114-106 victory Friday night in Game 6.

The Grizzlies advanced in the playoffs for the first time in seven years, this time to meet Golden State, the NBA champions in 2015, 2017 and 2018. Game 1 is in Memphis on Sunday.

Golden State got Stephen Curry back from injury for the playoffs to rejoin Draymond Green and Klay Thompson and again looked like a championship favorite while beating Denver in the first round.

Golden State is in its seventh Western Conference semifinal in 10 seasons. They're as healthy as they’ve been since reaching five straight NBA Finals between 2015 and 2019.

But first the Warriors have to get by a Grizzlies team that zoomed past them during the regular season to take second place in the West and home-court advantage for this series.

Bane went 27 for 56 on 3-pointers in the series against Minnesota. That's already the most makes in Memphis team history for a single postseason.
