Oneonta, C/M each notch wrestling dual meet victories

Jan. 24—The Oneonta wrestling team defeated Duanesburg/Schoharie 60-17 in Wednesday's dual meet to improve to 17-6 in dual meet play on the season.

Notching victories for the Yellowjackets, all via pin, were Amari Champen (116 pounds), Beckett Holmes (138), Alan Little (145), AlanMichael Rubin (160), Darren Rose (170), Lucas Weaver (190), Jayden Zakala (215) and Nason Renne (285).

Oneonta will be in Walton Friday to face Walton/Delhi.

Cooperstown/Milford 36, Canajoharie/Fort Plain 35

Cooperstown/Milford squeaked by Canajoharie/Fort Plain for a 36-35 win Wednesday.

Winning by pin for C/M were Thomas Geertgens at 138 pounds and TJ O'Connor at 152.

Each side was shorthanded as only six individual matches took place.

C/M will be at Morrisville/Eaton Saturday for the Center State Conference Tournament.

Schenevus rolled to a 59-26 home win over Sharon Springs Wednesday in Tri-Valley League action.

Autumn Burton and Sam Barrett each scored 14 points for the Lady Dragons while Carleigh Reed and Amber Burton scored 12 and 11 points, respectively.

Leading Sharon Springs were Lilly Tessier with 12 points and Zarie Fassett with nine.

Schenevus will be at Richfield Springs Friday while Sharon Springs will host Laurens/Milford the same day.

The Cooperstown volleyball team rallied from an early deficit to defeat Clinton in four sets Wednesday by scores of 19-25, 25-17, 26-24, 25-13.

Leading the Hawkeyes in the win were Sophia Hotaling (38 digs, three kills, three aces), Alexis Wolfe (14 digs, 10 assists, five kills, four aces), Lucy Hayes (33 assists, eight digs), Violet Gentiles (16 digs, six kills, four aces, three assists), Mia Pelcer (13 digs, 10 kills) and Grace Sperry (19 kills, three blocks).

Cooperstown will host Sauquoit Valley Thursday.
