North Jersey girls lacrosse players to watch heading into the 2024 season

As the girls lacrosse season gets set to begin Monday, here are some of the top players to watch across North Jersey.

Angela Beardsley

Northern Highlands junior attacker

While her dad, Ric, was a legendary defender at Syracuse, Beardsley has used her shot to stand out on the other side of the field. She picked up 34 goals and 13 assists last year after moving to the area and will continue her career at Stony Brook.

Ava Bower

DePaul junior midfielder

The Lincoln Park native is a versatile, two-way player who's on track to become one of the top scorers in Passaic County history. As a sophomore, she ranked first in the county in ground balls (74) and second in goals (79), points (96) and draw controls (137).

Ryan Doyle

Glen Rock senior midfielder

Whether it's soccer or lacrosse, Doyle always has a knack for ripping shots past goalies. She hit a new gear last spring with 60 goals and 27 assists while using her speed to pick up a team-best 72 ground balls.

Keira Dunn

Westwood senior midfielder

The Salisbury commit does a little bit of everything for the Cardinals with good offensive touch and the height at 5-foot-10 to win draws. Last year, she was the only player in North Jersey to record at least 40 goals and 40 assists.

Emme Dunphey

Ridgewood junior defender

As a rare sophomore starter at Ridgewood, Dunphey made the most of her opportunity by scooping up 23 ground balls for the state champion Maroons. She has committed to play at Virginia Tech.

Abigail Holland

Saddle River Day senior attacker

After spending two seasons at Albertus Magnus (N.Y.), Holland brought her playmaking skills across the state border last spring. The left-hander scored 35 goals and posted a Bergen County-high 58 assists for a team that made the Non-Public B semifinal.

Samantha LaBier

Ridgewood junior defender

Sometimes it seems like Ridgewood has more than 12 players on the field, and it's fast and pesky athletes like LaBier who make that impression. She led the Maroons' defense with 31 ground balls and 21 forced turnovers last year after earning her way into the lineup.

Maddy Lively

Immaculate Heart junior attacker

The Sacred Heart commit has been torching goalies in the high-powered Stars and Stripes North since stepping onto the field as a freshman. She led the Blue Eagles with 55 goals last spring and sits at 93 just halfway through her career.

Isabella Pedone

Saddle River junior midfielder

Pedone has put up astonishing numbers in a short time in high school, scoring 80 goals last season and 137 as an underclassmen. Basketball fans may know her name, as she played guard for the Bergen County champion Rebels this winter.

Mc Salter

Saddle River Day senior goalie

The daughter of a Division I goalie, Salter has lived up to her father's legacy as an accomplished four-year starter with the Rebels. The Siena-bound senior collected more saves than anyone in North Jersey last season, with 250.

Kiera Schwartz

Ridgewood junior midfielder

A Clemson commit with elite athletic tools, Schwartz will have a chance to command the spotlight this spring after two years as a complementary scorer behind Lindsey Devir. Schwartz checked all the boxes last year with 42 goals, 28 assists, 81 draw controls and a team-best 40 forced turnovers.

Alexis Toro

Westwood junior midfielder

Few players mean more to their team than Toro, who deftly juggles roles as a scorer, draw specialist and backer on defense. As a sophomore, she broke team single-season records in goals (88), ground balls (87), draw controls (123) and forced turnovers (72).

Anna Travers

Northern Highlands senior defender

A starter since freshman year, Travers will use her experience and reach (at 5-foot-8) to bolster a team that's made back-to-back sectional finals. She excelled last spring with 45 ground balls and 26 forced turnovers.

Maddie Willkomm

Northern Highlands junior attacker

Willkomm is one of the top finishers in North Jersey after pouring in 42 goals and 17 assists as a sophomore. Her signature moment came in last year's sectional semifinal when the UC-Berkeley commit scored in overtime less than a month after breaking her right wrist.

Ally Zamparelli

Glen Rock senior goalie

Zamparelli is a big reason why the Group 1 Panthers are one of the best in Bergen County. The Fairfield commit finished with a .517 save percentage last year on the way to becoming a two-time, All-North Jersey selection.
