NFL Week 9 picks: Experts slightly favoring Rams over Packers

Sunday’s game between the Los Angeles Rams and Green Bay Packers is a difficult one to predict. It’s not just because both teams are struggling, but largely due to Matthew Stafford’s uncertain status as he recovers from a UCL sprain in his right thumb.

As of Friday morning, the Packers are 3-point favorites over the Rams in Week 9. That number could (and probably will) change depending on Stafford’s availability, but the oddsmakers see Green Bay as the favorite right now.

That’s not how experts see it, though.

According to Tallysight, 54% of experts are picking the Rams to beat the Packers on Sunday, with 61% taking them to cover the spread as 3-point underdogs. With the over/under set at just 39.5 points, 53% of experts are picking the under.

The Packers have won three in a row against the Rams and eight of the last nine overall. All of the three most recent games have been at Lambeau Field, so the Packers have had the home-field advantage lately. That’ll be the case once again on Sunday.

With Aaron Rodgers gone and Stafford banged up, the quarterback matchup could look very different this weekend. We know Jordan Love is starting for Green Bay, and he could go up against Brett Rypien if Stafford can’t go.

Even with the Packers losing four straight, this won’t be an easy win for the injured Rams.
