When is the NFL Draft 2024? Offseason dates to know for combine, free agency and more
It's the NFL offseason now as the Kansas City Chiefs cemented their status as the new dynasty in sports with their third Super Bowl win in the last five seasons.
Now that the Lombardi Trophy has been awarded and the confetti's done falling from Allegiant Stadium in Las Vegas, there will be no more games for the next seven months until early-August when the preseason begins with the NFL's Hall of Fame Game.
Fortunately for football fans, the NFL is arguably the busiest league with a non-stop news cycle even when the season comes to an end.
Here's everything you need to know about all the important dates in the NFL for this upcoming offseason including the draft order, combine, free agency and more leading up to the 2024 season.
NFL Draft order 2024: Bears on the clock, Giants and Jets pick in Top 10:
No. 1-16 (in order): Bears (via Panthers), Commanders, Patriots, Cardinals, Chargers, Giants, Titans, Falcons, Bears, Jets, Vikings, Broncos, Raiders, Saints, Colts and Seahawks.
No. 17-32 (in order): Jaguars, Bengals, Rams, Steelers, Dolphins, Eagles, Texans (via Browns), Cowboys, Packers, Buccaneers, Cardinals (via Texans), Bills, Lions, Ravens, 49ers and Chiefs.
2024 NFL offseason dates: Combine, free agency, Draft and more
Feb. 27 - March 4: The NFL Scouting Combine gets the offseason underway in Indianapolis, two weeks following Super Bowl 58.
March 5: A day after the Scouting Combine, there's a 4 p.m. deadline for organizations to give players either the franchise or transition tag.
March 13: The new league year begins with the start of free agency begins at 4 p.m. All 32 NFL teams must be under the salary cap by this point.
March 24-27: Annual NFL league meetings take place in Orlando, Florida.
April 15: NFL teams can begin offseason workouts if they have the same head coach as the prior season. If an organization hired a new head coach heading into next season (Chargers, Commanders, Falcons, Titans, Panthers, Patriots, Raiders and Seahawks), they can start two weeks earlier on April 1.
April 19: Deadline that current restrict free agents have to sign their offer sheets.
April 25-27: The 2024 NFL Draft takes place in Detroit.
May 2: The last day clubs can hand out fifth-year options for players who were selected in the first round of the 2021 NFL Draft.
May 3-6 or 10-13: Teams can choose one of these weekends to hold their rookie minicamps following the 2024 NFL Draft.
May 19-20: The yearly NFL Spring Meeting is held in Nashville.
Mid-to-late July: Organizations can start preseason training camps, with veterans reporting one week after the rookies are in the building.
Aug. 1: The Hall of Fame Game is held in Canton, Ohio. Two days later, the seven members of the 2024 Pro Football Hall of Fame class will be enshrined at the Pro Football Hall of Fame.
Sept. 5: The 2024 NFL regular season begins with opening kickoff on Thursday night.
Sept. 6: The next day, for the first time ever, the NFL will play a regular season game in Sao Paulo, Brazil, as the Philadelphia Eagles have already been named as one of the teams taking part in the event.
