RB Jalen Hurd to transfer from Tennessee, seek new position
Tennessee junior running back Jalen Hurd is transferring, coach Butch Jones announced during his weekly press conference on Monday. Multiple reports said the decision came following a reported players-only meeting Sunday night.

Jones said he thought the Sunday meeting was one of the most productive meetings his program had had in a long time.
Hurd, Tennessee’s leading rusher with 451 yards and three touchdowns, apparently thought about transferring a year ago, according to a message board post allegedly made by his uncle, but decided to come back because of promises of scheme changes made by the coaching staff. Hurd’s uncle says the promises were not kept and injuries have kept Hurd’s morale low.

Jones said Monday no promises were made to Hurd.
“I think when you lose a few games, everyone wants to point fingers and the sky is falling,” Jones said.
Hurd’s decision comes on the heels of the Vols losing to South Carolina and dropping to 5-3. Tennessee opened the season with five straight wins, including four that were a product of second half come-from-behind efforts. However since then, the Vols have dropped games against Texas A&M, Alabama and now South Carolina, and have fallen out of the Top 25.
