MSU hockey to face rival UM on Sunday for trip to Frozen Four

One of the game’s best rivalries will again be renewed with massive implications on the line.

Michigan State hockey won an overtime thriller against Western Michigan on Friday night to advance to the second round of the NCAA Tournament. Only a few hours later, Michigan used a strong third period to edge out a win over North Dakota to also advance to the second round and setup a matchup with the Spartans.

Michigan State holds a 4-to-1 advantage over the Wolverines this season, including a Big Ten Tournament Championship win last weekend.

Faceoff between the Spartans and Wolverines is scheduled for 6:30 p.m. ET. The game will take place in Maryland Heights, Mo. and will be televised on ESPN2.
