Michigan head coach Jim Harbaugh interviews for San Diego Chargers job

Despite winning a national championship just over a week ago, the Michigan Wolverines‘ future is still in question. Since their national championship win over Washington, the Wolverines have seen several important pieces announce their plans to enter the NFL Draft and head coach Jim Harbaugh is once again flirting with the NFL.

On Monday, Harbaugh completed an interview with the San Diego Chargers for their head coach opening.

The Chargers finished this NFL season with a 5-12 record, firing head coach Brandon Staley following a 5-9 start. Despite the poor performance in 2024, the Chargers could be an ideal landing spot for Harbaugh thanks to having young star quarterback Justin Herbert as well as a quality group of offensive and defensive weapons on their roster.

The 60-year-old Harbaugh has been the head coach at Michigan since 2015, collecting an 86-25 record including a 37-3 record over the last three seasons. He last coached in the NFL in 2014 with the San Francisco 49ers whom he left following an 8-8 season in 2014. In his three seasons prior to the 2014 season, Harbaugh led San Fransisco to three straight NFC Championship games and one Super Bowl.
