The Mets (71-84) look to avoid the four-game sweep on the road against the Philadelphia Phillies (86-69) at 6:05 p.m. on PIX11.


Mets notes

  • Brandon Nimmo, who's out of the lineup Sunday, is on a seven-game hitting streak, batting .387 (12-for-31) with six runs, three doubles, one triple, one home runs, six RBI, four walks with a .457 OBP and a .645 SLG

  • Francisco Lindor has recorded 30 stolen bases and 27 home runs this season, as he's looking to become the fourth player in franchise history to record 30 home runs and 30 steals in a single-season. He would join David Wright (2007), Howard Johnson (1991, 1989, 1987) and Darryl Strawberry (1987).

  • The Mets lead the major leagues with a 89.8 percent success rate in stolen bases this season. The team has stolen 115 bases out of 128 attempts -- the highest success rate in franchise history

  • New York is off on Monday before they conclude the 2023 schedule with a six-game home stand against the Miami Marlins (three games) and Phillies (three games)

Who is starting for the Mets?

Jose Butto (1-2, 3.09 ERA), looks to continue his recent success following six strong innings against the Marlins on Sept. 18. Butto allowed just one run on four hits with a walk and six strikeouts, earning a no-decision.

Over his last seven games (five starts), Butto has allowed 11 earned runs on 24 hits over 32.0 IP with 29 strikeouts.

His best game as of late came on Sept. 12 against the Arizona Diamondbacks when he allowed only one run on two hits with seven punch-outs over 5.0 IP.

Who is starting for the Phillies?

Cristopher Sanchez (2-5, 3.55 ERA), has struggled as of late, losing his last two starts against the Atlanta Braves.

Sanchez struck out 10 Braves on Sept. 13 over 7.1 innings, but let up four runs on eight hits with a walk in the loss.

He then faced the Braves again on Sept. 19, allowing three runs on seven hits with only two strikeouts over 4.0 IP.

Upcoming schedule

The Mets return home to face the Miami Marlins for a three-game series, beginning on Tuesday at 7:10 p.m. on SNY.

Left-hander Joey Lucchesi (3-0, 2.88 ERA) is set to face off against lefty Braxton Garrett (9-6, 3.53 ERA).
