Markelle Fultz would've been excited to join whatever team in whichever city
Markelle Fultz may have been selected No. 1 overall, but his Instagram game is not quite NBA ready.

The University of Washington product had a post all ready to go for his big night — sponsored by Tissot watches, no less — but he forgot one minor detail: The team that made him the No. 1 pick.

“Excited to head to (City) and join the (team name),” he wrote. “Tissot is helping me get started with my (team name) watch.”
The post was deleted, but not before thousands of followers hit the like button, and a boatload of bloggers quickly grabbed screenshots. Obviously, this post wasn’t supposed to go live before Fultz — or whoever was handling his social media feed for the night — plugged in “Philadelphia” and “76ers.” It’s not like Fultz knew he was going to be picked by the Sixers several days ago or anything.
The 76ers, of course, traded their No. 3 pick and another future first-round pick to the Boston Celtics earlier in the week for the No. 1 pick, and they made no secret about their intent to select Fultz. Presumably, that Instagram post would’ve gone up regardless of who drafted him, which is a nice behind-the-scenes look into how every pick who said he always dreamed of playing for his new team, which, by the way, has the best fans in the world, may not have been all that sincere on Thursday.
The generic nature of the post and that classic starting line — “excited to head to (City)” — won’t do much to silence folks who wonder what personality lies behind that ever straight-faced look of his.

Seriously, the juxtaposition of that face with “Excited to head to (City)” is really quite something:
Not to mention the fact he is wearing two watches. This really is his time to shine for the (team name).
