This year sees Manchester City try to defend their crown and claim a historic fourth title in succession. Meanwhile Luton Town are making their first appearance in the Premier League, having risen from non-league in an incredible decade of progress. They followed Championship winners Burnley and second-placed Sheffield United in earning promotion to the top flight.

Manchester City vs Arsenal

18:30

The full-time whistle blows, with City and Arsenal forced to share the spoils after the title rivals played out a 0-0 draw at the Etihad Stadium. Jesus twice went close in the first half against his former team, while Ake also wasted a chance at the other end. Kovacic nearly scored a brilliant long-range opener after the restart, but while City pressed for a winner late on, they failed to score for the first time in 58 home games in all competitions, and the scoreline ended goalless. The result means Liverpool remain top having beaten Brighton earlier on Sunday, holding a two-point advantage at the summit over second-placed Arsenal, while City are three points behind the leaders in third. Both City and Arsenal are back in action on Wednesday, when the former will host Aston Villa while the Gunners welcome Luton Town. That is all we have for you from the Etihad Stadium, so thanks for your company and goodbye!

FULL-TIME: MANCHESTER CITY 0-0 ARSENAL

Manchester City vs Arsenal

18:24

Tomiyasu wins a free-kick near the touchline to relieve some of the pressure his side has been under in recent minutes. Could Arsenal go on and nick the three points themselves?

Manchester City vs Arsenal

18:23

Perhaps the biggest winner of this contest ending goalless would be Liverpool, with both of their title rivals dropping points. The Reds would retain top spot, and it could prove difficult to shift them in Jurgen Klopp's final season at Anfield.

Manchester City vs Arsenal

18:20

There will be five minutes of additional time for one of these sides to find a winner, one that could be truly pivotal in the title race.

Manchester City vs Arsenal

18:17

De Bruyne crosses into the Arsenal penalty area, and Haaland manages to nod it back into the danger area. However, the referee blows up for an Arsenal free-kick, and Haaland requires some treatment having taken a blow to his head.

Manchester City vs Arsenal

18:16

Trossard receives the ball down the left of the City box. However, from a tight angle, he can only fire straight at Ortega, who makes the save. That was a chance for the visitors.

Manchester City vs Arsenal

18:13

De Bruyne's corner is flicked on by Gvardiol towards the back post, where Haaland just cannot quite seem to get his feet sorted. The ball goes through the striker's legs and harmlessly out for a goal-kick.

Manchester City vs Arsenal

18:12

Tomiyasu skews a clearance, putting out for a corner. How costly could that be? It all hinges on De Bruyne's delivery, which is usually excellent.

Manchester City vs Arsenal

18:11

Odegaard is perhaps a little lucky to avoid a booking after crunching through the back of Rodri in midfield. He helps the City man back to his feet, and the game is back under way without further punishment for the Gunners captain.

Manchester City vs Arsenal

18:07

Yellow Card David Raya Martin

Manchester City vs Arsenal

18:07

Substitution Bukayo Ayoyinka Temidayo Saka Gabriel Teodoro Martinelli Silva

Manchester City vs Arsenal

18:06

City have scored in each of their last 57 home games in all competitions, their longest such scoring streak in club history. The last Premier League side to score in more consecutive home games were Manchester United (a run of 61 between September 2010 and November 2012). A City goal here to keep the streak going could end up being the winner.

Manchester City vs Arsenal

18:05

There have still been only two shots on target in this game, one from either side. It only takes one to score a goal, though, and there is certainly the attacking firepower on display for that to happen.

Manchester City vs Arsenal

18:01

Substitution Gabriel Fernando de Jesus Leandro Trossard

Manchester City vs Arsenal

17:59

Of City players, only Haaland has had multiple touches (two) in the opposition box. It hasn't been a vintage attacking display from the hosts, but there is still plenty of time for them to find a crucial winner.

Manchester City vs Arsenal

17:56

Jesus petulantly throws the ball away as City wait to take a free-kick. It's a daft move really, and the Arsenal man picks up a booking.

Manchester City vs Arsenal

17:55

Partey also enters the fray in place of Jorginho.

Manchester City vs Arsenal

17:55

Arteta now looks to his bench for the first time. His maiden change sees Tomiyasu come on for Kiwior.

Manchester City vs Arsenal

17:53

It remains to be seen what impact those two alterations from Guardiola will have on proceedings. Alvarez is another potential attacking introduction should the City boss choose to bring him on.

Manchester City vs Arsenal

17:50

Substitution Mateo Kovačić Jack Peter Grealish

Manchester City vs Arsenal

17:49

Both Premier League meetings between Arsenal and City this season have been goalless at half-time; none of the previous 22 league meetings between the two clubs had been 0-0 at the break before this.

Manchester City vs Arsenal

17:46

A win here for Arsenal would take them back to the summit of the Premier League on goal difference, while three points for the hosts would move them to within a point of leaders Liverpool.

Manchester City vs Arsenal

17:44

The Gunners seem to pressing a lot higher in this second half. Already they have caught the hosts in possession in dangerous areas on a couple of occasions, and the away contingent are showing their appreciation.

Manchester City vs Arsenal

17:42

All of a sudden, the game has sparked into life. Just moments after Saka's teasing low cross is just out of the reach of Jesus, a couple of big tackles in midfield get the home crowd involved. This has been a much better start to the second half.

Manchester City vs Arsenal

17:41

Odegaard looks to fire a low pass into the path of Havertz, but the throughball has too much weight on it and races through to the waiting hands of Ortega. Arteta will have liked the intention, though, if not the execution.

Manchester City vs Arsenal

17:39

City have gone on to win all of their last six Premier League home games that have been goalless at half-time. The last opposition side to score in the second half of such matches was Carlo Ancelotti's Everton in January 2020.

Manchester City vs Arsenal

17:37

CLOSE! Kovacic nearly scores an exquisite opener as he opens up his body before curling goalwards from range, though his effort just doesn't quite bend enough and ultimately flies wide of the right post.

Manchester City vs Arsenal

17:35

The hosts get the ball rolling again for the second half.

Manchester City vs Arsenal

17:21

There were high hopes heading into this one with two of world football's best sides going head to head. However, it's yet to really catch light, with the sides combining for 1.03 xG (expected goals) off just two shots on target. It surely has to liven up in the second half, and with such high stakes on the game, there's certainly motivation for each team to kick on and claim the three points.

Manchester City vs Arsenal

17:20

The half-time whistle blows with the scoreline 0-0 at the Etihad Stadium between title rivals City and Arsenal. The best chances have probably fallen to the Gunners, with Jesus twice going close but ultimately shooting wide, while Ake had a opportunity at the other end from a corner but couldn't get his body sorted in time to get a proper effort away at goal. Therefore, we head into the interval goalless.

Manchester City vs Arsenal

17:18

HALF-TIME: MANCHESTER CITY 0-0 ARSENAL

Manchester City vs Arsenal

17:18

We are into two minutes of additional time at the end of this first half.

Manchester City vs Arsenal

17:17

Foden looks to blast towards goal from range, but it's prevented from ever getting close to troubling Raya as Kiwior gets in the way of it.

Manchester City vs Arsenal

17:14

City are unbeaten in their last 38 home games in all competitions (33 wins, five draws) since a 2-1 loss against Brentford in November 2022. It's their second longest run without defeat at home in their history, after a run of 42 between December 1919 and November 1921.

Manchester City vs Arsenal

17:12

Rodri tries to flick Akanji's cross goalwards, but Gabriel is tight to the City midfielder and the Spain international can only head wide of the left post. The hosts are starting to threaten a bit more, though.

Manchester City vs Arsenal

17:09

Gvardiol stands up a cross into the middle, but Saliba and Kiwior do enough to put off Haaland and ensure the striker can only head well wide of the target. The Arsenal defence have done a pretty good job of keeping the prolific Norway international quiet to this point.

Manchester City vs Arsenal

17:07

City needlessly give the ball away in a dangerous area, but the visitors cannot make them pay as Jesus takes far too long to pull the trigger, jinking one too many times and allowing the hosts the chance to get players back and block his eventual drive.

Manchester City vs Arsenal

17:05

De Bruyne has scored more goals against Arsenal in all competitions (eight) than he has against any other opponent for City. He also has five assists against the Gunners, only being involved in more goals for the Citizens overall against Southampton (15 – five goals, 10 assists). However, he is yet to really make his mark in this one.

Manchester City vs Arsenal

17:03

CHANCE! The biggest opportunity of the game so far falls to Jesus. White's deep cross comes to Kiwior, who coolly nudges it back to Jesus. The former City man cannot finish against his former club, however, dragging wide of the right post with his left foot. That will provide some encouragement for the visitors, though.

Manchester City vs Arsenal

17:01

Rodri (14) has completed twice as many passes in the final third as Arsenal have as a team so far (seven).

Manchester City vs Arsenal

16:58

City have another defensive injury concern as Ake is forced to limp off. Lewis is on in his place, fresh from international duty with England.

Manchester City vs Arsenal

16:58

A rare foray forward for the Gunners ends with Havertz and Ortega colliding while chasing onto a Jesus throughball. The City goalkeeper wins the race and gathers the ball, with Havertz catching him on the follow-through, and the hosts will have a free-kick.

Manchester City vs Arsenal

16:55

The hosts have had 73.1 per cent of the possession so far but have conjured up just one attempt, the same as the visitors. They are the team doing the pressing, but Arsenal are defending resolutely.

Manchester City vs Arsenal

16:53

Following their 1-0 win at the Emirates Stadium in October, Arsenal are looking to complete their first Premier League double over City since the 2007-08 campaign. Meanwhile, they last did the league double over the reigning champions in 2001-02 against Manchester United.

Manchester City vs Arsenal

16:51

Those expecting a high-octane game will have been disappointed so far, with both teams looking a little cagey. That's perhaps to be expected with the gravity of the contest, but it's made for a tough watch for the neutral.

Manchester City vs Arsenal

16:49

A corner reaches Ake just a couple of yards out from goal. However, the delivery seems to catch him off guard, and the centre-back can't get a clean effort away, allowing Raya to jump on the loose ball.

Manchester City vs Arsenal

16:46

Havertz (two) and Haaland (three) have had the fewest touches among the 22 starters. That's a damning indictment of how little both sides have threatened so far, with their respective frontmen barely having a kick.

Manchester City vs Arsenal

16:44

City have won 12 of their last 13 Premier League games against Arsenal, though the exception was a 1-0 loss at the Emirates in the reverse fixture this season. Could the tide be turning in this fixture for the Gunners?

Manchester City vs Arsenal

16:41

Ten minutes on the clock at the Etihad Stadium, and there's not been anything to write home about bar Jesus' tame volley. The game is yet to really get going, with the likes of De Bruyne and Saka not getting on the ball as much as their respective managers would have liked.

Manchester City vs Arsenal

16:39

Jesus does brilliantly to bring a White cross down before firing goalwards, though his low volley only goes into the side-netting. Ortega looked to have it covered anyway.

Manchester City vs Arsenal

16:35

De Bruyne whips a free-kick into the box, but the well-placed White is able to nod an important header behind to prevent the cross reaching the lurking Haaland.

Manchester City vs Arsenal

16:34

Jesus is starting his first Premier League match for Arsenal since January 30 (against Nottingham Forest), a match in which the Brazilian both scored and provided an assist - his last goal contributions in the competition. Against his former side in City, he will hope to impress and get on the scoresheet again here.

Manchester City vs Arsenal

16:31

The visitors kick us off and we are under way at the Etihad Stadium!

Manchester City vs Arsenal

16:29

The two teams make their way onto the Etihad Stadium pitch ahead of this massive game in the Premier League title race. Who will take the three points to land a huge blow on their rival? We will find out shortly!

Manchester City vs Arsenal

16:29

Saka withdrew from England's squad for the international break but is fit enough to start for the Gunners here. Mikel Arteta goes with one alteration from the Champions League second-leg penalty shoot-out win over Porto as Trossard drops to the bench, with Jesus taking his place in the starting XI.

Manchester City vs Arsenal

16:24

Guardiola makes two changes from the 2-0 FA Cup win over Newcastle United last time out with De Bruyne, who has a great record against Arsenal, coming in for Doku. Kyle Walker is a notable absentee after picking up a knock with England, with Ake in to deputise, while Stones is fit enough to make the bench. Ederson remains out, with Ortega continuing between the sticks.

The Gunners, meanwhile, will be hoping to put the demons of last season to bed by kicking on and claiming a first league title since the 2003-04 'Invincibles' campaign. They did beat City at the Emirates Stadium earlier this season, so they know they have the tools needed to come out on top against Pep Guardiola and co, but beating them on their home turf is an even more challenging task. If they do pull it off, this really could be Arsenal's year.

Manchester City vs Arsenal

16:08

This tends to be the period of the season where City really kick into gear and cement their title-winning credentials, especially last season where they rattled off nine straight league victories following the March international break to secure a fifth title in six campaigns. That run included a home triumph over Arsenal to help pip the Gunners to the trophy, and they will hope for the same result here to set up yet another strong finish to the season and a trophy-laden conclusion to it.
