Burnley won for the first time in the Premier League this season as Chris Wood sealed a 1-0 victory against Crystal Palace, while Southampton missed a chance to go third in their 1-1 draw at Wolves on Monday.
Burnley finally claimed its first victory in the English Premier League on Monday, 1-0 against a Crystal Palace missing star forward Wilfried Zaha after he tested positive for the coronavirus. Chris Wood scored in the eighth minute, latching onto a neat flick by strike partner Jay Rodriguez and sidefooting powerfully past goalkeeper Vicente Guaita from a central position. The chance opened up because of a poor attempted clearance by Palace defender Cheikhou Kouyate, who misdirected a header straight to Rodriguez.
Sheff Utd and Newcastle are two clubs hoping to sign Burnley midfielder Jack Cork at the end of the season, according to reports. The player’s contract is set to expire in June 2021 which means he can leave on a free transfer. His situation is made even more interesting by the current form of Burnley, who are winless this campaign.
