LSU baseball director of operations Tyler Nordgren has left the program to become an assistant coach for Cal Baptist.

Nordgren joined LSU coach Jay Johnson in Baton Rouge after serving as Johnson's director of operations at Arizona in 2021.

"Thank you (Coach Johnson) for the last 2 seasons. I am forever grateful that you believed in me and made me a part of your program," Nordgren wrote on Twitter. "(Gary Adcock) and (Cal Baptist Baseball), I can’t wait to get started at one of the best programs on the West Coast. God is Good! #LanceUp."

He started his coaching career in 2018 at James Madison High School in San Diego. He left after 2019 to become an assistant coach at Point Loma Nazarene University — his alma mater. After one season at Point Loma, he joined Johnson in Arizona before following him to Baton Rouge.

Nordgren was also a successful player, posting a .371 batting average as a junior. He was also an All-PacWest selection the next year.

Nordgren is the third assistant coach to depart LSU this year, following pitching coach Jason Kelly and recruiting coordinator Dan Fitzgerald. Kelly left to become the coach at Washington, while Fitzgerald was hired to be the coach for Kansas.
