Looking at ESPN’s updated Football Power Index top 25 entering 2023
As we get deeper into the month of August, we’re quickly approaching the start of the college football season.
With Week 1 nearing, ESPN has updated its Football Power Index ranking projections entering the 2023 season. The Tigers finished as a top-10 team in the FPI in 2022, but they certainly didn’t start off that way.
LSU overachieved in Year 1 under coach Brian Kelly, and that has raised the bar quite a bit entering his second season. This is a team with real expectations, and it’s seen as a legitimate contender in not just the SEC race, but the College Football Playoff one, as well.
With that in mind, here’s how the top 25 of the ESPN FPI looks heading into the 2023 season.
