Florida Gators Baseball put freshman right-hander Chase Centala took the mound against North Florida on Wednesday night for the first start of his college pitching career. Centala was able to throw four scoreless innings for the Gators allowing only four hits and registering four strikeouts for the win against UNF. Bouncing Back Centala made his college debut last weekend during the opening season series against Miami.
Florida Gators Volleyball brought their brooms to Knoxville, Tenn to sweep the Lady Vols in three sets with scores of 25-20, 25-18, and 25-21. The eighth-ranked Gators improved their record to 11-2 while the Vols currently sit at 6-5. In each of the three sets, the Vols grabbed a lead right off the bat but the Gators closed the gap each time and came out on top.
The lack of leadership, dependable playmakers and experienced depth on defense was exposed early and often, beginning during a 51-35 win at Ole Miss that included seven plays of 30 yards on longer by the Rebels. During a 14-point win a week later against South Carolina, the Gators could not get off the field and allowed a lackluster Gamecocks offense to run 83 plays, which was 30 more snaps than UF.
