Lady Packer Track and Field take 5 1st place finishes

Mar. 22—MOULTRIE — The Lady Packers received five first place finishes during the varsity home track and field meet Wednesday.

Three came via track events with the other two being from the field.

D'Zeriyah Polite, Aziah McNeal, Rajayla McBride and Messiah Bender were the four Lady Packer athletes to run in the relay team for both the 4x100-meter and the 4x200.

The speed the quartet had on the 100 to take that first place finish 50.57 seconds.

When the same group competed in the 4x200, they were 6.21 faster than the Thomas Central County team directly behind them when the final runner crossed that finish line, stopping the timer at 1:50.23.

Dalivia McBride, with a time of 1:03.46 and a 1.61 advantage over the next closest runner from Cook High School, received a first place finish in the 400.

The McBrides — Dalivia and Rajayla — also both received first place in a field event.

Rajayla, with a distance of 34 feet, 6 inches, took first in the triple jump while Dalivia, with a distance of 4-10, took first in the high jump.

Only one Lady Packer received a second place finish during the meet: Aubrey Edge.

During shot put, Edge's furthest throw was 28-08, which was just behind the first place finisher from Crisp County, who threw a 30-07.

Also competing for the Lady Packers during the shot put was Ny'Erieah Daniels, who received sixth place with a throw of 26-07.

Three Lady Packers received third place, during with track events and the remainder during field competitions.

The 800 saw Yarely Zongua take third with a time of 3:00.09.

Additionally, two other Lady Packers placed during the 800: Allison Quiroz who took 8th with a time of 3:30.9, and Monai Alexander who placed 9th with a finishing time of 3:36.7.

300 hurled also saw three Lady Packers place, with the highest being that third position.

Saniyah Bowman, with a time of 58.93, placed third.

Immediately following Bowman was Brianna Hill, who placed fourth with a time of 59.41.

Ariana Daniels also placed in the 300 hurdles with a time of 1:02.25 for sixth place.

Discus was the final third position placement for the Lady Packers when Edge has her 80-08 throw.

Three other Lady Packers also placed during the discus competition.

Following Edge for fourth was Azaria Battle with a 71-06 throw.

In seventh, with a distance of 64-05, was Ny'Erieah Daniels, and following her was TaLisha Edwards for an 8th place finish after her throw of 60-11.

The final two events to receive placements for the Lady Packers was the 1,600 and the 100 hurdles.

During the 1,600, two Lady Packers placed: Zongua took fourth with a time of 6:42.48, and taking fifth was Quiroz with a time of 7:46.55.

100 hurdles saw three Lady Packers place.

Taking 4th, with a time of 20.04, was Bowman.

6th place was earned by Hill, who completed the race in 20.87, and directly behind her in 7th was Ariana Daniels with a time of 21.34.
