Kyle Shanahan hopeful 2 players come off Injured Reserve for Week 8

While the 49ers are reeling for more setbacks on the injury front, head coach Kyle Shanahan is hopeful to get two players back from Injured Reserve.

Running back Tevin Coleman and cornerback K’Waun Williams could both be back in action this week in Seattle after missing multiple games with knee injuries. Coleman sprained his knee in the 49ers’ Week 2 win over the Jets. Williams was hurt in a Week 4 loss to the Eagles.

Shanahan told reporters that while he’s hopeful to get Coleman back, the team won’t know for sure until later in the week.

Williams, on the other hand, was spotted working out on a side field during practices last week. That was a good indication his return might be on the horizon. This would be the first week he’s eligible to open his practice window after spending three weeks on IR.

Getting Coleman back would be significant for the 49ers since Jeff Wilson Jr. is due to go on IR, leaving JaMycal Hasty and Jerick McKinnon as the only healthy running backs on the 53-man roster.

San Francisco has weathered the injury storm fairly well to this point, and the sooner they can get any players back from Injured Reserve the better their chances will be of ultimately overcoming them to make the postseason.
