Kernel girls golf edged by Aberdeen Central at Hub City Invite

Apr. 25—ABERDEEN — By a mere single stroke, Aberdeen Central emerged for a home girls golf victory over Mitchell in the Hub City Invite tournament Thursday at Moccasin Creek Golf Course.

The Golden Eagles shot 322 as a team, while Mitchell checked in at 323 in the six-team event. Watertown was third at 331. It was the first time this season Mitchell has been defeated in a team tournament.

Mitchell was led by Maddie Childs, who shot 76 on the day and took second among 29 individuals. Allison Meyerink was in with a 78 for fourth place, followed by Quinn Dannenbring at 79 for fifth, and Mia Larson at 90 at 13th among individuals. Non-team scorers were Ava Eliason (14th, 90) and Anna Eliason (17th, 93).

Aberdeen Central had the day's medalist with a 1-under-71 from Olivia Braun.

Mitchell competes on Tuesday, April 30 at Bakker Crossing Golf Course in a quadrangular with Sioux Falls Jefferson, Sioux Falls Lincoln and Yankton.
