Memphis Grizzlies' Ja Morant posts on social media following ESPN story

Ja Morant's past troubles resurfaced in an ESPN story that was published Wednesday morning, and later in the day, the Memphis Grizzlies point guard responded in his own way.

Morant, who is serving a 25-game suspension for conduct detrimental to the league, posted on X, formerly known as Twitter, and on Instagram after the ESPN article detailed the events that led to Morant's suspension.

The Grizzlies' star first "liked" a post on X that stated: "They throw rocks then hide they hand."

Morant posted a tweet of his own.

"Storm dont phase us . too much umbrellas," Morant posted on X at 3:39 p.m.

The ESPN story also covered Morant's father, Tee, and his involvement in Ja's troubles. Earlier this summer, Tee said at a basketball event in New Orleans that his son got in trouble for his own decisions.

Ja Morant later liked a post on X that showed a clip of Tee's statement.

On Wednesday, Ja Morant showed his support for his father. First, he posted a photo on Instagram of the two at FedExForum and a message to his father.

"Keep Livin' the dream OG. This hoopin (expletive) started wit you, I just continued it," Morant said.

He doubled down on backing his father, posting again on X after a fan shared a video of Ja scoring against the Los Angeles Lakers and celebrating with Tee.

"Celebrate what you created pops (heart emoji) love ya OG," Morant said.

Grizzlies teammates and coaches stood up for him after practice. Coach Taylor Jenkins said he met with Morant separately about the ESPN report.

The Grizzlies will begin the regular season on Oct. 25 against the New Orleans Pelicans at FedExForum. The first game Morant is eligible to return is Dec. 19 against the Pelicans in New Orleans.

Morant is currently practicing with the Grizzlies and active in team meetings, but he's not allowed to be in the arena within two hours before game time.

Even with those restrictions, the Grizzlies have said Morant will travel with the team during his suspension.
