HS Roundup: Coshocton, Ridgewood baseball shut out in non-league losses

GNADENHUTTEN — Visiting Coshocton held Indian Valley to four hits, but committed three errors in a 4-0 loss on Saturday.

The Braves took advantage of two Redskin errors in a two-run first inning. Jaxon Burcher hit a two-out RBI single then Tanyon McComb scored on a two-out error later in the frame.

Another Coshocton miscue led to Breydan Parsons scoring on a wild pitch with two outs in the fourth, while McComb drew a bases-loaded walk with two outs in the sixth to account for the final Indian Valley run.

Coby Moore took the loss, allowing two runs on three hits with four strikeouts and one walk in three innings for the Redskins (11-8). Bentley Cunningham (2 innings) and Gage Wright (1 inning) also gave up a run each in relief.

Spencer Haney tossed a three-hitter with nine strikeouts and four walks for the Braves.

Gavin Mathias, Cunningham and Wright each singled for the Redskins.

Wright and Mathias had two-out singles in the third, but a strikeout ended the Coshocton threat, while another chance came in the seventh, as Travin Berry drew a lead-off walk, Cunningham hit a two-out single and Jackson Smith followed with a walk, but a fielder's choice ended the game.

Granville 3, Ridgewood 0: The Generals (9-12) failed to take advantage of six walks and were held to three hits in a loss to the Blue Aces.

Ridgewood had a chance in the home half of the first. Trent Warden hit a two-out single and Aden Troyer followed with a walk, but a strikeout ended the frame.

Granville came back with two runs in the second. Cash Thomas singled and Drew Cottrell came home on a Ridgewood error on the play, while Aaron Gutridge followed with a single to bring home Thomas.

Ridgewood loaded the bases with three walks, the last came with two outs, in the second, but a groundout ended the inning, while Kaleb Schrock singled and moved to second on an error with one out in the fourth, but a strikeout and a flyout ended the frame.

Granville scored its final run with a two-out, bases-loaded walk in the fifth, while the Generals fell short in the sixth after Smith hit a one-out single and Schrock drew a two-out walk before pop out ended their final threat of the day.

Jakob Culver tossed a three-hitter with six strikeouts to earn the win for the Blue Aces and Thomas went 3-for-3.

Cohen Cabot scattered eight hits, fanned five and walked two in a complete game loss for the Generals.

The Three Rivers Bassmasters held their second club tournament for 2023 with 11 members competing on Saturday at Dillon Reservoir, as Herb Stevens won with a total of 4.52 pounds, while Bret Lingo was second (3.19 lbs.) and Jim Eckelberry third (2.90 lbs.). Eckelberry had the Big Bass of 2.90 lbs.
