Fan Poll: Zion Christian baseball's Christian Huntzinger voted Columbia area boys athlete of the week

The votes are in and it was a razor close week. Zion Christian's Christian Huntzinger prevailed in the end, being voted as The Daily Herald's Columbia area boys athlete of the week for April 22-26.

Huntzinger won the award with 756 votes, accounting for 40.23% of all responses. Huntzinger struck out 14 batters in seven innings pitched, allowing five hits and three earned runs in an 8-5 win last Monday.

Columbia Academy's Gunner Skelton finished second in voting with 731 votes, 38.9% of the total responses and just 25 votes off of first. Skelton was 2-for-5 with a home run and three RBIs in an 11-1 win over Zion Christian last Thursday. Skelton also went 3-for-4 with a double, three runs, two RBIs and two stolen bases in a 22-2 win last Monday.

Summit's Davin Roush finished third in voting with 141 votes, 7.5% of the total. Roush struck out 13 batters in 6.2 innings pitched, allowing three hits and no earned runs in a 2-1 win over Franklin last Tuesday.
