High school sports roundup (Dec. 15)

Here is a roundup of high school varsity action on Friday, Dec. 15.

Boys basketball

Eastern Tech 71, Sparrows Point 29: The Mavericks won their fourth game of the season, already equaling their win total from all of last year. Talan Brooks come off the bench Friday to lead the win with 13 points and five rebounds.

Parkville 67, Perry Hall 46: The Knights fell behind after one quarter, but took control winning the second quarter, 19-8. Parkville was paced by a set of sophomores. Kyliek Howard led the win with 25 points. Cam Alexander backed him with 18 and Anthony Council chipped in 13.

Long Reach 63, Centennial 58: The Lightning (4-1) returned to the win column led by 19 points each from Junior Nunez and RJ Barnes. Jayden Saunders also chipped in 16 for Long Reach. For Centennial (3-2), both Josh Frazier and Charlie Crabtree had 16 points. Adrien Nyom added 10 points.

Mt. Hebron 61, Glenelg 54: The Vikings (4-0) won their fourth straight game to open the season as Donnell Jones led the way with a season-high 19 points. Kenny Akinlosotu added 12. For Glenelg (2-2) Christian Chen had 13 points. Ty Jenkins added nine.

Marriotts Ridge 62, Hammond 59: Jack Bonner scored 21 points and Restia Whitaker had 15 points, all in the second half and the host Mustangs beat the Bears. Marriotts Ridge held off a rally from Hammond.

Gerstell Academy 80 New Hope Academy 71: The Falcons were down four at halftime, but rallied for the win. Caleb Franze poured in 38 points in the win. He also finished with six assists, three rebounds and two steals. Colin Toms posted a double-double with 21 points and 12 rebounds, while Ben Martin chipped in 11 points.

Manchester Valley 54, Winters Mill 51: The Mavericks got 21 points from Carter Strohman, including two clutch 3-pointers in overtime to lift the Mavericks over the Falcons. Will Cuneo backed him with 10 points.

Liberty 71, Westminster 34: Aaron Bald scored 14 points and Alex Thompson had 11 points to lead the visiting Eagles over the Owls.

Patterson Mill 65, Elkton 44: The Huskies raced out to a 21-10 lead after one quarter and never looked back. Drew Pape scored 12 of his game-high 21 points in the first. The Huskies also shut out Elkton, 15-0, in the third quarter. Colin Luddy scored 15 and James Kropp added 13 points for Patterson Mill.

Joppatowne 68, North East 28: The visiting Mariners built a 37-15 lead over the Indians in the first half. Joppatowne was led by Kendall Pollack, Braxton Jackson and Kishann Smith each with 11 points. Jackson also grabbed nine rebounds.

C. Milton Wright 89, Aberdeen 58: A dominant 31-point, 21-rebound performance from Dylan Sander paced the Mustangs Friday night.

Havre de Grace 67, Harford Tech 60: Eric Macharia scored 26 points, but the visiting Cobras fell to the Warriors. Karon Evans chipped in 10 points for Harford Tech.

Crofton 70, Northeast 68, OT: Will Frost scored 29 points and Miles Denton and Cam Winston each had 14 points to lead the host Cardinals over the Eagles.

Glen Burnie 62 North County 52: Davon Mcleod scored 17 points and had 11 rebounds to lead the host Gophers (3-1) over the Knights. Other scorers for Glen Burnie included: Eric Daniels (16 points), Greg Pittman (12 points) and.Chris Maddox (10 points).

St. Mary's 65, AACS 59: The Saints took control by the second quarter, thanks to a 20-point performance from Riley Costello, followed by Jovanni Hall, who had 11, as well as Gavin Johnson and Noah Cerney, who each netted 10.

Broadneck 57, Severna Park 56: Drew Cahill made two free throws with 12.9 seconds left to play to complete the comeback win for the visiting Bruins. Broadneck trailed 44-28 before scoring 29 points in the fourth quarter. Jordan Brown scored 31 points, including 14 in the fourth quarter, to lead the Bruins.

Southern 47, Annapolis 38: Sabin Cordua led the way with 18 points as the Bulldogs beat the Panthers for the first time since 1993. Brian Griffin and Ethan Sheffey each pitched in 10 points. Rex Wooster had nine rebounds.

River Hill 72, Wilde Lake 9: The Hawks (4-1) were led by Camille Nesmith's season-high 16 points, while Taylor Shane added 11. For Wilde Lake (0-5), Jordyn Bennett had five points.

South River 48, Arundel 12: The visiting Seahawks beat the Wildcats. Arundel was led by Skylar Woodyard (12 points), Ryleigh Adams (14 points) and Karlee Hawkins (10 points).

Hammond 78, Marriotts Ridge 9: The Golden Bears (4-0) scored a season-high in the win. Nia Green had a team-high 15 points also adding 11 rebounds, while Asia Mitchell also had a double-double with 12 points and 11 rebounds. Both Sara Yarnell and Alexis Wright had 12 points while Kayley Washington had 10. For Marriotts Ridge (0-4), Peyton Albert had three points.

Oakland Mills 57, Reservoir 37: The Scorpions (3-1) won a third straight game led by Chloe Grenway's season-high 21 points. Destiny Macharia added 18 points. Alissa Young scored 10 points for Reservoir (4-1).

Centennial 42, Long Reach 26: Adria Welsh scored a season-high 19 points leading the Eagles (3-2) to the win. Tatiana Machiz added 10 points. For Long Reach (1-4), Jaiden Bryant had 14 points.

Howard 43, Atholton 26: The Lions (4-0) remained undefeated as O Daniel scored a season-high 18 points. Kadirah Carroll and Alana Harrison both chipped in six points. For Atholton (3-2), both Kendi Caldwell and Taylor Conway had eight points.

Hereford 42, North Harford 18: The Bulls jumped out to a 26-11 halftime lead and cruised to the win. Lauren Kraft scored 17 of her game-high 22 points in the first half. Gabby Viscuso added seven points in the win.

Manchester Valley 33, Winters Mill 22: Reese Kresslein totaled six points and seven rebounds to lead the Mavericks to the county win. Molly Smith and Maya Trump matched her with six points. Smith had a pair of steals.

Edgewood 58, Kenwood 43. Sam Donovan led all scorers with 18 points and added five assists and four steals as the visiting Rams beat the Bluebirds. Arianna Sisk and Jael Erickson each scored 10 points and. Lilly Smeltzer had four blocks for Edgewood.

Concordia Prep 43, Severn 40: Nyela Djossou scored 13 points, but the visiting Admirals (3-3, 0-2 Interscholastic Athletic Association of Maryland B Conference) fell to the Saints.(2-3, 1-0).

Annapolis 70, Southern 68: Ava Wooster scored a game-high 21 points and had 14 rebounds, but the visiting Bulldogs fell to the Panthers. Freshman Huntyr Mark scored 18 points and Sidney Shaw had 11 points for Southern.

Broadneck 46, Severna Park 38: Samantha Miller scored 16 points and Ginger Kerdock had 10 points to lead the visiting Bruins over the Falcons. Broadneck broke a 9-9 tie with an 11-7 run in the first half.

Indian Creek 42, St. Luke's (Australia) 23: The host Eagles (5-2) used a balanced offense to beat St. Luke's. Indian Creek was led by Abbey Bunker with 12 points, Stephanie Bunker with 10 points and nine rebounds, Norah Young with eight points and seven rebounds, and Ofundem Mbelem with eight points and 11 rebounds.

Boys swimming

St. Mary's 59, Pallotti 35; St. Mary's 52, AACS 29: The Saints' top performers were as follows: Ethan Lowe (1st: 200IM, 2nd: 100 Back), Brendan Peck (1st: 200 Free, 3rd: 100 Back), Parker Norton (1st: 100 Fly) and Matt Langemak (1st: 500 Free).
