HIGH SCHOOL ROUNDUP: St. John Paul II girls tennis wins 14th straight to remain unbeaten

It might have been raining outside, but the St. John Paul II girls tennis team remains hot.

The Lions won their 14th straight match to remain unbeaten at 14-0 as they beat Cape Cod Academy (8-4) on Wednesday.

Bella Scoletti defeated Julia McCaffrey in second singles (6-2, 6-0), while Rosanna Sullivan beat Jemma Meadows in third singles (6-0, 6-3) for JPII. Ava P. and Grace Walker defeated Kaleigh Howe and Molly Lowery in first doubles (6-3, 6-0), while Kayla Katziff and Bridget Moran beat Taylor Bodurtha and Ally Moring in second doubles (6-2, 6-0).

Lili Shanahan defeated Lilly Walker in first singles (6-3, 6-2) for Cape Cod Academy.

In other high school action:

Boys Lacrosse

Upper Cape 10, Blue Hills 8: Goalie Dylan Scott led the Rams (7-7) defense with 19 saves in goals, while Jacoby Staruski, Mikhalis Kalkanis, Jadon Barton, and Ryan Hanson led the offense.

Falmouth 8, Norwell 7: In a battle of the two second seeds in Division 3 (Falmouth) and Division 4 (Norwell), Falmouth (10-3) picked up the win in a competitive game.

Cape Tech 4, Westport 2: The Crusaders (1-11) picked up their first win of the season and snapped an 11-game slide.

Boys Tennis

Cape Cod Academy 5, St. John Paul II 0: The Seahawks (9-1) lost their season opener and have not lost since with nine straight wins as they swept the Lions (1-13).

Girls Track and Field

Falmouth 64, Monomoy 57: The Clippers picked up the close win over the Sharks.

Boys Track and Field

Falmouth 88, Monomoy 44: The Clippers recorded the victory over the Sharks.
