BOYS BASKETBALL
Division I
Portsmouth 64, Cumberland 37
Capitalizing on the hot shooting of Adam Conheeny (22 points) and Kyle Bielawa (17 points), Portsmouth ran past Cumberland in a D-1 contest. Hunter Zancan topped the Clippers in scoring with 13 points and teammate Luke Plumer added 10 more in the loss.
Hendricken 60, Cranston East 30
Michael D'Ambra poured in 18 points and teammate James Caldarella finished with 16 more as the Hawks doubled up on the Thunderbolt.
Central 58, Mount Pleasant 54
Down by eight points in the latter stages of the game, Central went on a 10-2 run, which helped them escape with a victory over Mount Pleasant. Lester Rodriguez poured in 17 points for the Knights and John Ramos added 15. Each player had two treys. Jaylen Robinson had 14 for the Kilties with two treys and Carlos Cabrera added 13 in the loss.
Barrington 70, Smithfield 53
Nick Scandura scored 21 points and Colin McDermott added 19 with four treys as the Eagles defeated the Sentinels. Christian Snowman led the Sentinels with 14 points.
East Providence 70, Narragansett 69
Division II
Lincoln 74, Coventry 45
Another strong night from the Lincoln duo of Wayne McNamara and Camden DiChiara helped carry the Lions to a dominant win over the Oakers. Both players scored 22 points in the win. Logan Voelker poured in 21 for Coventry in the loss.
St. Raphael 67, South Kingstown 61
On Senior Night at St. Raphael, the Saints, led by Addison Hazziez's 21 points and 9 rebounds, upended the Rebels. Zerek Johnson scored 16 and senior Jay-Den Matos added 15 points and pulled down 8 rebounds in the win. Griffin Sward had a big night for South Kingstown with 25 points, including 4 treys.
Hope 63, PCD 56 (OT)
Down, 25-10, in the first half, Hope rallied all the way back to force overtime. In the extra frame, the Blue Wave continued to ride the momentum and sealed the win over Providence Country Day. Hope's Davante Abney and JJ Monroe led the way, scoring 19 and 17 points, respectively. PCD's Spencer Jarabek led all scorers with 26 points in the loss.
Division III
Juanita Sanchez 60, North Providence 52
In a matchup of two powerhouses in the division, Juanita Sanchez came out on top, led by freshman Kyle Delves with 20 points and Taurean Williams with 18. Jesus Folger and Robert Robinson Jr. had 8 points each in the win. Senior Ryan Rodriguez led the scoring for North Providence with 21 points. The two teams now have identical records in the division at 14-1. Juanita Sanchez is also 14-1 overall and the Cougars are 16-4.
Johnston 63, Pilgrim 57
NeAri Vasquez scored 19 points, paving the way for Johnston's victory over Pilgrim. He was helped by Branden Testa with 16 points and Jayden Testa with 13. Dylan Vale was the high scorer for Pilgrim with 22 points and teammate Carter Clifton scored 10. Johnston is now 12-4 in the division and 13-5 overall. Pilgrim’s record is 7-8 in the division and 9-9 overall.
