High School Playoff Roundup: Scores and recaps from Friday's play-in basketball games

BOYS BASKETBALL

Division I

Hendricken 68, Westerly 50

Despite a yeoman effort from Westerly's Jesse Samo, who poured in a game-high 23 points, Hendricken had four players reach double digits on the score sheet to lift the Hawks to a victory in the Division I Preliminary Round. James Caldarella and Mike D'Ambra topped Hendricken in scoring with 18 and 15 points, respectively, and Dylan Lynch and Will Mascena added 11 points each in the win. The Hawks will face East Providence in Monday's quarterfinal round.

Division III

West Warwick 61, Davies 40

Owen Stearns poured in 24 points, which included four shots from beyond the arc, and Zachary Lawrence was good for 14 more as West Warwick soundly defeated Davies in the Division III playoff preliminary round. Nathan Borden the Patriots' shining light in the loss as he pumped in 18 points. The Wizards will next face Central Falls in the quarters on Tuesday.

Ponaganset 42, Mount St. Charles 28

The Chieftains defense kept the Mounties off the board in the first quarter, and took a 19-7 lead into the locker room at the break. It was too deep a hole for Mount to dig out of as Ponaganset punched its ticket to the Division III quarterfinals with a matchup against Juanita Sanchez on Tuesday. Jason Sepe scored a game-high 13 points for the Chieftains and Xavier Gomez added 9 in the victory. For the Mounties, Manny Adeyeye scored a team-high 9 points in the loss.

Division III

Blackstone Valley Prep 60, Prout 54

In a hard-fought contest, Blackstone Valley Prep pulled out the victory in their Division III play-in contest against the Crusaders. The Pride's Juan Bedoya led all scorers with 18 points, Ethan Sou added 14 and Dante Lewis had 13, including four 3-pointers. For Prout, Lawson O'Hearn scored a team-best 17 points, and teammates Charlie Horne and Ryan Antonucci each netted 11 in the loss. With the victory, BVP will face No. 1 seed North Providence on Monday night.

Division II
