High school baseball: Vote for the Varsity 845 player of the week (April 22-28)

Online voting for the Varsity 845 baseball player of the week for April 22-28 is now open. Go to RecordOnline.com/sports and vote as often as you like until 11 p.m. on Sunday (no computer bot voting, please).

Nominations are pulled from reports to Varsity 845 and other sources. Players from Orange, Ulster and Sullivan counties, plus Delaware Valley (Pa.) are eligible. One player per school is permitted during each week.

The winner will be announced via X / Twitter @Varsity845. Previous winners can become eligible again once the postseason has begun. The first five winners were Kyle McDermott of Monroe-Woodbury, Mason Gove of Burke Catholic, Rudy Cherry of Middletown, Tyson Fernandez of Marlboro and Austin Swett of Tri-Valley.

Matt Boffalo, Pine Bush

He had a double, two RBI and go-ahead home run as the Bushmen beat Monroe-Woodbury 8-6 on Friday.

Kyle Degroat, Wallkill

He threw six innings of no-hit ball, striking out 14 as the Panthers beat Washingtonville 9-1 on Tuesday.

Logan Hart, Kingston

He had a home run, double and four RBI in the Tigers’ 14-10 loss to CBA on Tuesday.

Jack Maiale, New Paltz

He slapped a single, two doubles, posting an RBI and striking out 10 batters as the Huguenots topped Saugerties 11-6 on Monday.

Nate Nilsen, Rondout Valley

He had two doubles, three RBI and struck out six in his mound win, a 7-4 decision over Red Hook on Thursday.

Alex C. Ramos, Goshen

He posted two singles, two doubles, three RBI and struck out five as the Gladiators beat Minisink Valley 19-5 on Wednesday. On Friday, he had a double and two singles in an 18-1 win over Monticello.

Chase Rounds, Newburgh

He struck out nine batters, posted two singles and an RBI as the Goldbacks nipped Middletown 5-4 on Monday.

Darren Russo, Valley Central

He tossed a two-hitter and struck out seven as the Vikings blanked Washingtonville 4-0 on Monday.

John Ryder, Marlboro

His no-hitter featured 10 strikeouts as the Dukes beat Saugerties 11-1 on Wednesday. On Saturday, he had two singles, a double and RBI in a 13-4 win over Chester in the Beacon Bash title game.

Mikey Bonagura, Chapel Field

His steal of home plate in the eighth inning pushed Chapel Field to an 8-7 win over Eldred on Monday.

Evan Ebert, Sullivan West

He had two hits, four RBI, scored four times, struck out 12 and allowed just one hit as the Bulldogs beat Fallsburg 20-0 on Wednesday.

Marz Garcia, Seward

He drove in three runs and got the mound win, fanning 11, as the Spartans beat Tri-Valley 11-1 on Friday.

Andre Jenkins, Chester

He doubled twice and drove in three runs as the Hambletonians beat O’Neill 21-1 on Wednesday. The next day he had two singles and two-run homer in a 16-1 win over Fallsburg. On Friday, he was the winning pitcher, fanning six, in an 11-5 win over Cornwall.

He drove in four runs with two hits as the Eagles blanked Tri-Valley 18-0 on Monday.

Thomas McGuinness, O’Neill

He posted four singles, a double, allowed only two hits and fanned 10 as the Raiders crushed Seward 27-0 on Monday.

Josh Warming, Eldred

He struck out 14 Chapel Field batters in an 8-7 setback on Monday.

Jacob Wright, Ellenville

He had three hits and an RBI in a 17-4 setback to Rhinebeck on Friday.
