Hawks’ Tyrese Martin put up 4th straight double-double in G League

Atlanta Hawks rookie Tyrese Martin on Thursday put up another double-double effort to help lead the College Park Skyhawks to a win on assignment in the G League.

Martin recorded 16 points, 10 rebounds, four steals and one assist in the 120-117 victory over the Greensboro Swarm at home. He finished by shooting 7-of-15 from the field, including 1-of-5 from 3-point range, in 38 minutes of work.

The 51st pick registered his fourth straight double-double with the performance, and 10th of the season. He is posting 22.3 points, 11.3 rebounds, 2.3 assists and 1.8 steals on 53.6% shooting from the field over that stretch.

Martin has appeared in 13 games with the Hawks but has spent much of the season in the G League with playing time at a minimum. He is averaging 18.4 points, 8.6 rebounds and 1.6 assists in 22 games, and is tied for 23rd in double-doubles and 28th in rebounding.

The team liked the addition of Martin through the draft and believes he has a bright future ahead. He will likely spend some more time in College Park through the end of the G League season this month and then return to Atlanta.
