Grizzlies’ Desmond Bane continues to stay hot behind 3-point line

On Monday, rookie Desmond Bane produced 17 points to help the Memphis Grizzlies knock off the Houston Rockets and improve back to .500 on the season.

Bane finished by converting on 7-of-10 shots from the field during the 120-110 win, including 3-of-5 from 3-point range. On the season, Bane is now shooting 45.8% from beyond the arc, which leads all rookies and ranks seventh among all qualified players in the NBA.

The performance by Bane continued a strong recent run for the 30th overall pick. Over his last eight games with the Grizzlies, Bane is averaging 9.3 points and 3.3 rebounds on 53.6% shooting (15-of-26) from 3-point range.

Bane, who has mostly come off the bench this season, started the second half on Monday when Grayson Allen left early with a hip injury. Grizzlies head coach Taylor Jenkins said after the game that Allen was fine but liked how Bane played in place of Allen.

The Grizzlies have received strong contributions from Bane throughout the season as the rookie once again came up big off the bench on Monday. He has proven to be a strong rotation player in the starting lineup or bench, and that could be needed should Allen miss any time.
