Greg Monroe, Josh Smith power Pistons past Kings

Josh Smith finished with 21 points and added 13 rebounds, his seventh double-double of the season, to lead the Detroit Pistons to a close victory over the Sacramento Kings, 95-90. This is only the second win for Detroit (5-19) in its last 10 games.

Smith went 9-16 from the field and 3-5 from the free throw line. He also tallied five blocks and five assists. Other key players for Detroit included Greg Monroe with 24 points and eight rebounds, and Andre Drummond with 12 points and 10 rebounds. Despite the loss, Rudy Gay scored 20 points for Sacramento on 6-22 shooting, including 4-7 from behind the arc. He also recorded eight rebounds and eight assists. Carl Landry contributed 15 points and 11 rebounds and Ben McLemore finished with 14 points and six rebounds.

Sacramento (11-13) has now lost three consecutive games.

Coming up, the Pistons play the Los Angeles Clippers, who are 16-7 on the season. The Kings go up against the Oklahoma City Thunder, currently sitting at 11-13 this year. The Pistons have a 0-1 record against Los Angeles this season. The Kings have a 0-1 record against Oklahoma City this season.
