Carlinville's Addison Ruyle wins the SJ-R's athlete of the week poll

Carlinville's Addison Ruyle is the State Journal-Register's athlete of the week.

She won with 2,023 votes. Litchfield's Alex Rhodes was second with 1,879.

The poll closed at noon on Friday. Information about the nominees is below. Buffalo Tri-City/Sangamon Valley's Tiffany Farley won last week's poll.

Lucas Bixby, New Berlin, baseball

The senior pitcher totaled 16 strikeouts and allowed just three hits, two walks and one run in six innings to lift the Pretzels to a 5-1 victory over Bethany Okaw Valley on Saturday. He followed with two hits, one RBI and one run in a 9-1 victory over Paris in the second game.

Gabbie Branson, Petersburg PORTA/A-C Central, softball

The senior threw a perfect game in four innings en route to an 18-0 victory over Riverton on Thursday. Branson dominated with 10 strikeouts and no walks. She also hit a solo home run in the third inning and finished with two RBIs.

Isaac Crumrine, Riverton, baseball

The hit a walk-off double with two outs in the bottom of the ninth inning and Riverton eked out a 4-3 win over Petersburg PORTA on Thursday. Julian Rice reached first base on a PORTA error and scored the game-winning run on Crumrine’s double.

Taryn Griffith, Chatham Glenwood, softball

The junior catcher delivered a first-inning grand slam and an RBI double as Glenwood rolled to a 15-0 Central State Eight Conference victory over Sacred Heart-Griffin in four innings on Tuesday.

Kamryn Hoffman, Springfield High, girls soccer

The sophomore forward summoned three goals and two assists in a 7-0 nonconference win over Athens on Saturday. Both assists came on corner kicks.

Karsyn Jacoby, Athens, girls soccer

The junior forward broke a scoreless tie late in the first half and opened the floodgates for the Warriors in a 5-0 Sangamo Conference win over Riverton/Buffalo Tri-City on Thursday. Jacoby quickly followed her goal in the 35th minute with another in the 37th to give Athens a 2-0 lead.

Jordyn Loveless, Carlinville, girls soccer

The junior scored the winning goal in a 1-0 South Central Conference victory over North Mac on Tuesday. Loveless polished off an assist from Mylee Ribble to the far post in the 20th minute.

Alex Rhodes, Litchfield, girls soccer

The senior defender launched a game-tying goal from the half line in a 2-1 South Central Conference victory over Hillsboro on Saturday, March 30.

Addison Ruyle, Carlinville, softball

The junior belted the the go-ahead, two-run homer in the top of the eighth inning to carry the Cavaliers to a 5-3 South Central Conference win on Friday. Hannah Gibson reached on an error with one out to begin the stanza before Ruyle launched the ball deep to center field. Ruyle ended with two hits, two RBIs and a run.
