Goal scorers, facilitators and more: Taunton Daily Gazette Boys Lacrosse All-Scholastics

TAUNTON — Another high school boys lacrosse season has come and gone in the Greater Taunton area.

Bridgewater-Raynham (12-7) and Dighton-Rehoboth (9-7) both led the way locally, qualifying for their respective postseasons with the Trojans falling to No. 12 Algonquin in the Division I Round of 32 while the Falcons fell to No. 9 Groton-Dunstable in the Division III Round of 32. Taunton (4-12) returned to varsity status for the first time since 2018 and scored a non-league season sweep of Norton while Bristol-Plymouth (4-14) performed a non-league season sweep of New Bedford.

With the spring season now in the rearview, here's a final look back at the Greater Taunton area boys lacrosse players who stood out among the crowd to earn their spot as 2023 Taunton Daily Gazette Boys Lacrosse All-Scholastics.

Player of the Year

Thomas Dyson, Dighton-Rehoboth

The senior captain and attacker wrapped up his strong high school career with another strong spring, recording 44 goals and 43 assists for a total of 87 points. The offensive catalyst for the Falcons, some of Dyson's most notable performances this past season include five goals and four assists against Greater New Bedford, six goals and an assist against Norton and three goals and five assists against Groton-Dunstable.

A South Coast Conference All-Star, Dyson certainly left his mark on the program and his abilities and leadership will surely be missed next year as he continues his academic and lacrosse career at Liberty University.

First Team All-Scholastics

Tommy Selfridge, Taunton

The senior captain and midfielder truly was the heart and soul of the Tiger offense upon the program's return to varsity status, even after making the switch over from attacker in order to help better serve the team, including some duty as the long-stick midfielder in man-down scenarios. He finished the season with a team-high 19 goals and four assists, with some of his most notable performances including five goals on the road against Norton, three goals and two assists against New Bedford and three goals at home against Norton.

A Hockomock League Honorable Mention, Selfridge's leadership and abilities will be missed by Taunton next year.

Dawson DuBose, Bridgewater-Raynham

The junior midfielder was described by coach Matt Connolly as the initiator of the Trojan offense, recording 23 goals and 15 assists while often drawing the opponent's toughest defenseman and facing down double coverage on many occasions while utilizing his fast feet and quick dodges to dart through opposing defenses. Some of his most notable performances include three goals against Old Rochester, two goals against Dover-Sherborn and a goal and an assist against Lincoln-Sudbury.

DuBose was also named a 2022 Taunton Daily Gazette Football All-Scholastic and his talents will surely be missed at B-R next year as he continues his academic and athletic career at the The Governor's Academy.

Jayson Kelleher, Bridgewater-Raynham

The sophomore attacker had a breakout season for the Trojans, recording 43 goals and 26 assists for 69 points in his first varsity season. Some of his most notable performances this spring include five goals against Bishop Feehan, four goals and an assist against Canton and two goals and three assists against Silver Lake.

An Enterprise/Patriot Ledger Second Team All-Scholastic, expect Kelleher to continue to grow and improve as an athlete over the next two years at B-R.

Ryan McInnis, Bridgewater-Raynham

The sophomore attacker and midfielder was described as a "Swiss Army knife" kind of player by Connolly for his abilities to play on the attack, in the midfield, man-up offense and take face-offs when needed, including going 17-for-21 on face-offs during the Round of 32 loss to Algonquin. He finished the spring with 23 goals and 18 assists for 41 total points, with some of his most notable performances including four goals (with the winner) and two assists against Newton South, three goals and two assists against Silver Lake and three goals against Attleboro.

Also a key member of the hockey team, expect McInnis to continue to grow and improve as an athlete heading into his senior year.

James Murray, Bridgewater-Raynham

The senior captain and midfielder wrapped up his strong high school lacrosse career as a 'do-it-all' man for the Trojans, capable of playing on offense, defense and on the wings while contributing 15 goals and 17 assists this spring to finish his high school lacrosse career with 55 points over three seasons. Some of his most notable performances this spring include four goals and an assist against Attleboro, three goals and an assist against Nauset and a goal against Algonquin.

An Enterprise/Patriot Ledger Second Team All-Scholastic, Murray was also named a 2022 Taunton Daily Gazette Boys Cross Country All-Scholastic and a 2022-23 Taunton Daily Gazette Boys Indoor Track All-Scholastic, Murray's leadership and abilities will certainly be missed at B-R next year as he continues his academic and athletic career at the Massachusetts Maritime Academy.

Zach Sinclair, Bridgewater-Raynham

The senior captain and midfielder returned to the offense after finishing his junior season in net and showed his importance as a dodger and passer as he recorded 12 goals and 13 assists for 25 total points. Some of his most notable performances this spring include three goals and an assist against Seekonk, two goals and two assists against Nauset and two goals against Dighton-Rehoboth.

Also part of the hockey team, expect Sinclair to continue to grow and improve as an athlete heading into his senior year.

AJ Bosco, Dighton-Rehoboth

The senior attacker wrapped up a strong high school lacrosse career with another solid spring, recording 27 goals and 11 assists for 38 points while also scooping up 27 ground balls. Some of his most notable performances include three goals and eight ground balls against Greater New Bedford, three goals and two assists against Seekonk and three goals, an assist and six ground balls against Norton.

An SCC Honorable Mention, Bosco's talents will certainly be missed at D-R next year as he continues his academic and lacrosse career at Plymouth State University.

Richard McGreevy, Dighton-Rehoboth

The senior captain and defender wrapped up a solid high school lacrosse career as a key man on the Falcon back line, marking the opposition's top attackers while also acting as one of the team's go-to guys for ground balls. Some of his most performances this spring include retrieving nine ground balls at home against Greater New Bedford, seven ground balls on the road against Greater New Bedford and seven ground balls against Bellingham.

An SCC All-Star, McGreevy was also named a 2022-23 Taunton Daily Gazette Wrestling All-Scholastic and his abilities and leadership will certainly be missed at D-R next year as he continues his academic career at Bristol Community College.

Destin Michener, Dighton-Rehoboth

The senior captain and goalie wrapped up a solid high school lacrosse season with another strong season in net, with such notable performances as an 18-save showing at home against Seekonk and 16 saves away against Seekonk.

An SCC All-Star, Michener was also named a 2022 Taunton Daily Gazette Football All-Scholastic and a 2022-23 Taunton Daily Gazette Boys Indoor Track All-Scholastic. His leadership and abilities will certainly be missed by the Falcons next year as he continues his academic career at the Community College of Rhode Island.
