Girls volleyball: Final Top 20 rankings, standings for 2023 season in North Jersey
North Jersey remains the class of girls volleyball in the state, home to two more NJSIAA champions this season.
Current member schools of the Big North and North Jersey Interscholastic Conference have produced at least one champ every year since the state tournament began in 1981. This year, Immaculate Heart and Demarest did the honors, and the latter achieved an additional milestone.
During their run to the Group 2 title, the Norsewomen gave 35th-year head coach Beth Powell her 700th win, though it was not publicized at the time.
Powell (709-172) was one of three coaches to reach major landmarks in victories: The 600-win club welcomed Bogota’s Brad DiRupo (603-99), and the 500-win club welcomed Old Tappan’s Melissa Landeck (503-109).
The trio has combined for 27 state titles and 14 Bergen County crowns all-time.
