Girls basketball Shore Conference Tournament - our Final Four predictions. Who's your pick?

We're only a couple days away from the start of the girls basketball Shore Conference Tournament.

The seeding process will take place Sunday at Red Bank Catholic High School at 9:30 a.m. Only teams with a .500 record or better will be considered for the tournament. One coach from each division will be part of the seeding committee, along with the Tournament Director (not voting).

Other things to know about the SCT:

  • The first round of the tournament will be played Tuesday and the Round of 16 will be Thursday. The team with the higher seed will get the home game for the first two rounds.

  • The quarterfinals will take place Saturday, Feb. 10 at Middletown South High School, from 10 a.m. all the way to the last game being at 3:15 p.m.

  • The semifinals will be played at Red Bank Regional Feb. 13 at 6 p.m. and 7:45 p.m. The finals will be held at Monmouth University Feb. 18 at noon.

Here's where we'll give our analysis on the teams that have the best chance of making the semifinals - and then we want you to vote, at the bottom of the story, for the team that you think will win it all.

Our Final Four prediction:

1. St. John Vianney (Record: 15-6, 5-0 in A Coastal Division)

It would not be smart to not list the reigning champs as the favorite in going back-to-back and winning a 17th SCT trophy. Last season the Lanchers outlasted Red Bank Catholic in the final, 58-52. Now the team is reloaded with young talent such as sophomores Stella Lockhart and Taylor Sofilkanich, plus with junior/Morris Catholic transfer Daniella Matus there's no doubt they're a top contender. The Lancers are No. 5 in the APP Top 30 but have been dominating in their own division - though they did lose to Manasquan earlier in the season. Whether their youth will catch up to them or they return to glory days will be interesting to see.

2. Red Bank Catholic (16-3, 4-0 in B North Division)

From today, it's looking like the SCT is gearing up for a rematch between the Caseys and Lancers in the finals. Despite RBC head coach Joe Montano admitting this season to be one of the toughest schedules he's had, his team has been thriving. RBC hasn't lost to a single team at the Shore and has only lost to one team in the state (Morris Catholic, 49-46). Sophomore Addy Nyemchek has been stellar this season averaging 14.5 points through 19 games. Juniors Christina Liggio and Tessa Carman also have both showed to be top defenders on the Shore as well. They're a young team that's battle tested and knows how to win games.

3. Manasquan (16-3, 3-1 in B Coastal Division)

Last year Manasquan lost in the semifinals to Red Bank Catholic, 44-38. Now with a team of upperclassmen, don't be too surprised if the Warriors find their way to the finals. Penn commit Katie Collins, Bucknell commit Hope Masonius, UNH commit McKenna Carlson, and Jefferson University commit Charlie Lapinski are all college-bound hoopers and seniors ready to shake things up. The No. 3 Warriors have beat the likes of SJV and other top teams on the Shore, but they've also lost to Red Bank Regional and St. Rose. Manasquan has the potential to win it all, but whether they can stay consistent will be the biggest factor.

4. Ocean Township (16-3, 5-0 in B Central Division)

The No. 2 Spartans may not have the same level of difficulty in schedule as the teams listed above, but they've been consistent. Ocean lost to Red Bank Catholic in the quarterfinals, 46-36 last year, but they're a year older and better now. Spartans have a one-two punch in Le Moyne commit Eli and her sister Kayden Clark. Those two make up for just over 48% of their total offense. Their losses came to tough opponents in RBC, Manasquan and Mainland. Ocean may not be the favorite to win it all, but they shouldn't counted out.

List of other teams with potential to make noise (alphabetical order):

  • Manchester Township (13-6, 5-0 B South)

  • Red Bank Regional (11-4, 3-1 in B North Division)

  • Rumson-Fair Haven (12-6, 3-1 in B North Division)

  • St. Rose (15-6, 5-0 in B Coastal Division)

  • Trinity Hall (13-6, 2-0 in A North Division)

  • Wall (14-5, 3-2 in B Coastal Division)
