Former Arizona HS stars Robinson, Ringo headed to NFL teams; Sun Devil drafted

Two of the top players to come out of Arizona high schools in recent years were selected in this year's NFL draft.

Bijan Robinson, widely considered the top running back prospects after a stellar three-year career at Texas, was selected in the first round at No. 8 by the Atlanta Falcons.

Robinson was a standout running back at Tucson Salpointe Catholic High School and twice selected for the Ed Doherty Award given to the best high school football player in Arizona. During his four years at Salpointe, Robinson amassed more than 7,000 rushing yards and scored 114 touchdowns.

Robinson was a unanimous All-American for the Longhorns this past season, rushing for 1,580 yards and 18 touchdowns while averaging over six yards per carry. At Texas, he was the the Doak Award winner, recognizing the nation's top running back.

Saguaro product Kelee Ringo, a cornerback who helped Georgia win two consecutive national championships, was drafted by the Philadelphia Eagles in the 4th Round, at No. 105 overall.

Ringo clinched Georgia's 2021 national championship with a late 79-yard interception return for a touchdown off of Alabama quarterback Bryce Young, who was drafted first overall by the Carolina Panthers.

Sun Devil drafted

For the 10th year in a row Arizona State has a draft selection with nose tackle Nesta Jade Silvera going to the Las Vegas Raiders with 14th pick of the 7th round

Silvera was in Tempe just one season, transferring from the University of Miami. He was the lone ASU representative last month at the NFL Combine. The only other Pac 12 teams with selections in each of the last 10 years are USC, UCLA and Washington.
