Both teams shot 8-under 63. McKay, a former Bartram Trail and Liberty University player, and Taylor won with birdies on the final two holes.

The net division also had to go to a scorecard match. Mark Scott and Greg Maugeri, both Deercreek members, won over Wen and Parker Bray after both shot 63. Scott's par at No. 18 proved to be the deciding hole.

State Senior finally concludes

The 62nd Florida State Senior Championship began on April 11 at the Lago Mar Country Club in Plantation.

It finally ended on Tuesday — 187 days later with Miles McConnell of Tampa winning by six shots at 8-under-par 208.

The day after the first round, torrential rain created historic flooding in South Florida and the tournament was suspended indefinitely. The Florida State Golf Association was finally able to reschedule it and McConnell took command with rounds of 68-69 to beat William Mallon of Vero Beach (214).

McConnell birdied six of 10 holes during the second round and turned it into a runaway with a third round that included only one bogey, at No. 9. McConnell then holed a wedge shot at the par-5 10th hole for an eagle and cruised home from there.

It was McConnell's fourth FSGA title and his first Florida Senior.

Jeff Kaufman of Ponte Vedra Beach and John Lobb of Jacksonville tied for 13th at 6-over 222.

First Coast dominates North team

Therese Quinn of Jacksonville will have plenty of company on the North team she is co-captaining Oct. 23-24 in the Florida Women's Cup at Mountain Lake, in Lake Wales.

Five First Coast residents were announced this week as participants on the North team, four who have played in the event in the past.

Quinn, making her sixth appearance (with a 3-9 record), will be joined by Tama Caldabaugh of Ponte Vedra Beach (5-6-2 in six prior Cups), Carolyn Creekmore of Ponte Vedra (1-4-1 in three Cups) and Elizabeth Breza of St. Augustine (3-3 in three Cups).

Two first-time participants will be Xiaolin Jones of St. Augustine and Chris Hunt of Ponte Vedra.
