Ezekiel Elliott stuns, leapfrogs Eagles defender en route to another Cowboys field goal

Ezekiel Elliott put some kind of move on Philadelphia Eagles safety Tre Sullivan on Sunday.

Sullivan squared up for a one-on-one open-field tackle after Elliott broke free on a run from the Eagles’ 40-yard line late in the second quarter.

This is a situation that generally sees Elliott lower his shoulders to punish his would-be tackler, but Elliott displayed his remarkable athleticism here instead.

When Sullivan braced for the hit, Elliott showed off the skills that made him a high school track star and leapfrogged Sullivan, who completely whiffed as Elliott had a bead on the end zone.

But Elliott landed off balance and eventually fell on his own around 20 yards later, eight yards short of a touchdown.

Cowboys come up short of end zone

The Cowboys were in prime scoring position after the run, but as has been the case much of the season, failed to capitalize. First-and-goal from the 8-yard line turned into third-and-goal from the four, where quarterback Dak Prescott got hit for a nine-yard loss on a sack.

The Cowboys ended up calling on Brett Maher for a field goal to take a 6-0 lead. Elliott went on to lead the Cowboys to a 27-20 victory over the Eagles with 187 total yards rushing and receiving and two touchdowns.

It was a great run that should end up on Elliott’s career highlight reel. It would have been a lot sweeter for the Cowboys if it had resulted in six points instead of three.
