ESPN’s Kirk Herbstreit tests positive for COVID-19

ESPN’s Kirk Herbstreit tweeted on Tuesday he will not be at the Sugar Bowl on Friday after testing positive for COVID-19.

Herbstreit is the second person on the “College GameDay” team to test positive for the coronavirus.

Heisman winner and Super Bowl MVP Desmond Howard tested positive earlier in the season.

Howard did the “GameDay” show from isolation while ill. He suffered symptoms and eventually lost his taste and smell. Howard did recover those and tweeted a message to his colleague.

On the NFL side, “Monday Night Football” sideline reporter Lisa Salters has missed games due to COVID-19 protocols. SportsCenter host Scott Van Pelt also has suffered the impact of the virus, saying he, too, has lost the ability to taste and smell.
