El Paso softball teams begin quest for success in UIL playoffs

The UIL softball state playoffs begin this week across Texas. Here is a look at teams and players to watch from El Paso.

Teams to watch

  • Montwood had an excellent season, claiming the District 1-6A title and will Odessa Permian in the opening round of the playoffs.

  • Chapin has high hopes in the playoffs after winning the District 1-5A title. Last year the Huskies lost in the bi-district round.

  • Del Valle went 10-0 in District 2-5A and believe a deep run in the playoffs is possible.

  • Parkland won a Class 5A bi-district title in 2023 and hopes to build on that success.

  • Eastwood has experience and strong pitching, which makes it tough to beat.
