The E.D. White girls swimming and diving team was named the Girls Team of the Year during the 2023 Bayou Region High School Sports Awards, presented by Thibodaux Regional Health System, Barker Honda and Barker Buick GMC. The show was held June 1 at Bonvillain Civic Center.

The Girls Team of the Year was sponsored by Thibodaux Regional Health System.

E.D. White beat out the girls soccer team from Terrebonne High School and the Vandebilt softball team. Vandebilt softball were state runners-up this season in Division III Select, while Terrebonne advanced to the regional round of the state tournament.

Dominant would be the word to describe how the E.D. White girls swimming team performed at the state meet this past fall. Led by Swimmer of the Year Elizabeth Benoit, the Cardinals finished nearly 100 points higher than second-place finisher Episcopal. This was also in tandem with the boys state championship, which also came in runaway fashion. This was the fourth straight state title for the girls team.

The Bayou Region High School Sports Awards show is part of the USA Today High School Sports Awards, the largest high school sports recognition program in the country.
