David Peterson fans first six batters in latest start for Syracuse Mets
David Peterson had a rough start to his 2023 season in the big leagues, but he seems to be finding his groove in the minors.
After the Mets optioned him to Triple-A Syracuse on May 17, the left-hander responded with eight innings of shutout ball, surrendering just two hits with nine strikeouts during his first start in a win over Norfolk on May 21.
On Saturday evening, the strikeouts continued to roll in for Peterson. In his start against the Louisville Bats, the southpaw struck out the first six batters of the game to cruise through the first two innings.
Peterson exited with the bases loaded in the fifth after 102 pitches and five walks. The left-hander did strike out 10 hitters on Saturday night for a total of 19 strikeouts in 12.2 innings pitched since the option to Syracuse.
