Giants and Cubs meet in Free Game of the Day

The latest World Series odds from online sports book Bovada tell you what everybody who watches baseball already knows about the Chicago Cubs: They’re far-and-away the favorites to win the World Series.

The September odds released by Bovada have the Cubs at 3/1, slightly better than the 7/2 they were at the start of August and much better than the 11/2 odds the Washington Nationals are seeing as the No. 2 team in baseball.

The biggest drop in the latest batch of odds? That belongs to the San Francisco Giants, who were second behind the Cubs at the start of August and now rank eighth, going to 13/2 to 14/1. Ouch.

You can see how these two World Series contenders — yes, the Giants are still contenders — fare against each other this week, as they start a four-game series at Wrigley Field. For the first game, we got you. It’s the Yahoo Sports MLB

The Cubs and the Giants are two teams that went different directions in August. The Giants were 11-16 compared to the Cubs’ 22-6. Think that accounts for their odds?

A Giants World Series would be more of the same for a team that’s won three of them since 2010, but a Cubs World Series, well, you already know. They haven’t won since 1908 and haven’t been to a World Series since 1945.

These are hardly the only two teams in the mix, though, so here are the current World Series odds for all 30 teams, per Bovada, even the ones who are off the board:
