It’s been a brilliant outing for Crystal Palace, who finish 5-2 up at home, having thoroughly outclasses a dismal West Ham. They were 4-0 up within half an hour thanks to the combined efforts of sensational wingers Olise and Eze, as well as an own goal by Emerson and the first of two for top scorer Mateta. The latter secured his brace 15 minutes into a less eventful second half, with only Antonio’s goal shortly before half-time and an embarrassing slip-up and own goal by goalkeeper Henderson in the dying moments of the game marring an otherwise excellent day for Glasner’s side. The Eagles finish with an xG of 2.47 and five goals to show for it compared to 1.27 for West Ham, who missed the chance to move up into sixth. Eze and Olise have dominated the game thus far, both getting on the scoresheet alongside Mateta and spurning a few more chances, with the highlight of the game being Eze’s stunning bicycle kick in the 16th minute. Emerson’s unfortunate own goal in the 20th minute encapsulated the half for West Ham – shapeless, outrun, and completely outmaneuvred. Antonio at least got the visitors on the scoresheet shortly before the break, meaning he’s scored in each of his last four starts against Palace and on his 250th appearance for West Ham. But Moyes is going to have to give the team talk of his life to get his side back into this after the restart.
