About 175 people attended the banquet, which was held at Maribel Sportsman’s Club. It honors those who have made a lifetime commitment to conservation efforts in Manitowoc County.

Seeking pickled northern pike recipe

I had a reader contact me about a recipe for pickling northern pike. He said the one he is looking for was printed years ago by Syd Herman.

The reader said the pike comes out tasting just like herring and was the best he has ever had.

The recipe got misplaced and he is now trying to get a copy of it.

If you have that recipe, please email it to me at bobschuh@lsol.net and I will get it to the person who is looking for it.

Fishing trip video online

A few weeks ago, I had the story of our walleye fishing trip to Port Clinton, Ohio.

My brother, Rick Schuh, had a video camera from some friends of ours and videotaped our four-day adventure.

SS Badger resumes night cruises: SS Badger Lake Michigan car ferry resumes night sails between Manitowoc and Ludington, Michigan

The video starts out with some local details like Perry’s Monument and the Jet Express ferry that hauls vehicles and passengers to the island. It shows us catching lots of walleye as well as some undesirable rough fish, too.

The video then wraps up showing Lake Erie in its fury with crashing waves showing viewers why we got chased off the lake early on our last day.

The video can be seen in its edited form by going to YouTube. Log in and search for and like “Flying Eagle Outdoors.” Our video is listed under Lake Erie Walleye Fishing.

Hope you enjoy the video as much as we are enjoying our walleye fillets.
