Maryland freshman forward Jamie Kaiser Jr. announced his commitment to Butler on Monday via social media.

Kaiser, a former four-star recruit from IMG Academy via Burke, Va., was ranked No. 65 nationally in the 2023 class in 247Sports' composite rankings. The 6-6, 205-pound forward played one season at Maryland, averaging 4.4 points and 2.0 rebounds per game over 33 games.

Incoming: Butler gets commitment from Iowa transfer Patrick McCaffery

Kaiser made five starts as a freshman and reached double figures five times. His best game was a 14-point outing against Nebraska, going 4-for-5 from 3. For the season, he shot just 26.9% from the field, 26.5% from 3 and 77.8% from the free-throw line. Kaiser struggled from deep, but he has a reputation as a strong shooter, as 113 of his 160 shots (70%) for the Terrapins were 3-pointers.

Kaiser should help stretch the floor and replace some of the outside shooting lost from DJ Davis' departure. Kaiser is the second transfer Butler has gained this season with former Iowa forward Patrick McCaffery joining the Bulldogs on Saturday.

Kaiser's commitment puts Butler's roster at eight scholarship players officially (McCaffery, Pierre Brooks II, Andre Screen, Boden Kapke, Augusto Cassia and Landon Moore). All-State Brebeuf Jesuit guard Evan Haywood is the only incoming freshman signed for Butler's 2024 class.

Butler has had three players enter the transfer portal (Finley Bizjack, Davis and Connor Turnbull). Jahmyl Telfort and Posh Alexander have declared for the draft while maintaining their eligibility. If Alexander and Telfort return, Butler would have three scholarship spots to fill for the 2024-25 season.
