Playoffs update: Edgewood girls advance in regional lacrosse

Thursday a.m. UPDATE

Satellite High’s boys tennis team defeated Jacksonville Bolles this morning, 4-1. The Scorps advance to play Plantation American Heritage for the Class 2A state title. They’ve been the state runner-up two years in a row.

Update, 4:15 p.m.: Make it three runner-up finishes in a row. Satellite falls in 2A boys tennis championship match. More later.

Wednesday

Satellite High's boys won their first match at the Class 2A state tennis tournament, 6-0 over Citrus. The Scorps will face Bolles in a semifinal match at 8 a.m. Thursday.

In the Class 2A boys lacrosse state tournament, Winter Park defeated Viera, 17-5. Viera ends its season with a record of 15-7.

Holy Trinity's boys fell to Benjamin, 15-13, in the Class 1A lacrosse tournament. The Tigers finish their season as district 7-1A champions and with a 17-4 record.

Girls Class 1A state lacrosse: Edgewood at Lake Highland Prep, 7

Tuesday

After a 19-5 win over Cypress Creek, Edgewood's girls advanced to the regional finals in the lacrosse Class 1A state tournament.

Lindsey Angermeier led Edgewood in the game with seven goals and two assists. Angermeier has scored a total of 102 goals so far this season.

Lauren Koshlap added four goals and two assists, Taylor Koshlap finished the game with three assists and two goals, Audra Prill and Taylor Reed both scored three goals for Edgewood.

The Red Wolves improve to 16-3 and enter the regional final match on an 11-game winning streak. They will travel to Orlando to take on Lake Highland Prep on April 28 at 7 p.m.

Viera's girls fell to Hagerty, 18-4, in the Class 2A state tournament. The Hawks finish their season with a record of 12-5.

In state tennis, the Holy Trinity boys were eliminated from the Class 1A bracket by Trinity Prep on Monday.

Satellite won the first District 15-1A beach volleyball title by a Brevard County team under the umbrella of the FHSAA. The Scorps defeated Viera, 4-1.

Monday

Satellite and Holy Trinity's boys tennis teams will compete in FHSAA state tennis this week, with the Tigers playing first on Monday.

Lacrosse, beach volleyball and track and field teams will also compete in postseason events as the spring season approaches its final month.

Satellite High's boys tennis team has finished as the Class 2A runner-up the last two seasons. They head to Red Bug Park in Seminole County to take another shot at a state title Wednesday and Thursday. Each district champion at No. 1 singles or doubles from Brevard also have berths this week on one of the state brackets.

The first district beach volleyball tournament under the FHSAA for Brevard teams is Monday at Satellite High, and Edgewood's girls lacrosse team will host a Class 1A regional semifinal Tuesday at 7 p.m. against Cypress Creek. The Red Wolves defeated Satellite on Friday, 10-7.

The Holy Trinity boys also earned a 1A regional semifinal spot with a 14-9 home win over Montverde on Saturday. The Tigers will play at Benjamin School on Wednesday.

Satellite will host District 13-3A track and field on Thursday. Rockledge enters the meet after sweeping boys and girls Cape Coast Conference titles on Friday.
